So do I. The game is going to be great, and everyone bitching about how the series is ruined forever needs to grow up. Yeah, it might have a bit of the third installment curse, but it'll still be great and I plan on playing it very, very many times.

I've even heard the complaint "Looks like the combat is a lot more like Gears of War." Ummmmmm....have you forgotten the combat from the first to games? Wasn't it all duck-and-cover based combat? Maybe everyone complaining about this played the first two games on super-retarded-easy and thus was able to just wade through combat with the greatest of ease...but personally I recall spending too much time out of cover meant you'd get your face blown off. So what's the complaint here? Shepard can now perform a rolling dodge? How is this a bad thing? Are you so determined to hate this game you haven't even played yet that you're complaining about a new feature in combat? Shepard's omnitool can now turn into a blade too, but I don't see people complaining about that.
Played on highest difficulty in 1. You do NOT have to spend all your time in cover. There are some missions where you have to take cover, with a lot of snipers nearby and such, and there are others where it is pretty much a run and gun show - Virmire was ALWAYS like this for me, being primarily Krogan that wanted to charge me.
Mass Effect 2 was more GoW style, and I hated it. It made the combat bland as there was no juxtaposition in it. It was either in cover, or dead. Vanguard slightly solved this problem, but On anything above normal you would charge then duck back into cover. ME3 looks to be improving this by allowing you to stay out of cover, and have some varied combat again, rather than the same old cover in cover out.
That is the main issue with Mass Effect 2's combat, that is being partially fixed in ME3. It was too samey. Every fight consisted of both teams behind walls shooting each other. ME1 there were run and gun missions, and there were cover missions. This variety gave it an edge of ME2 IMO. Purely run and gun would be just as boring as chest high walls, but having shared between the two is fine. And please Bioware, take out the one ability cooldown - in the name of fun! Seriously, Charge then the Biotic Nova or W/E the Vanguards new move is would be epic. Waiting for a cooldown to use any ability? Not so much. And don't give us only 3 shots worth of health. Just... Don't F*** up like you could.
Anyway, yes, I am hyper excited for ME3 regardless.

Despite all my bashing on Bioware and EA especially, I want to play Mass Effect 3 also. EA just is doing everything in it's power to prevent me from playing it. Why would I spend time complaining about Origin and EA's practices if I didn't want any of the games they published? I would just ignore them completely.
I think you'll find most people who bash on these games, want them, they just aren't happy with how things are going. Myself, its all the EA Origin business.

Hell yeah I want ME3! Pre-ordered the collectors edition and everything!

Fuck the haters! (especially on this site where they are most prominent)

Why yes, I am excited for Mass Effect 3 despite the stuff that EA is doing. I just think we need to take a step back and realise that very little of the stuff being done is going to have a big impact on the core of the game, ie. the gameplay and the story telling.

Well, to be fair there were plenty of missions in Mass Effect where you faced mainly melee enemies. For example fighting the husks inside the Reaper and plenty of Varren and Krogans on Tuchanka. But since most of the sections where you fought those melee enemies were generally completely separated from areas where you fought ranged enemies I see your point.

I can't wait for the game either. I've had the collectors edition pre-ordered for a while.

Summary: 5 paragraphs on why it's bad, 2 on "I'll buy it anyway".

Can you not see how this makes fandom come across as...desperate?

Woah, calm down. Is it really necessary to insult people? It's not helping your case to rage like this.

I think that until the game is released, we can't know for sure whether the game is going to be good or bad. I'm optimistic, but I know some people aren't.

That said, those people aren't going to find much sympathy in a thread titled "I /WANT/ Mass Effect 3!"

I've been looking forward to Mass Effect 3 more than any other game in my gaming history. However each piece of news i hear about it lessens my excitment and makes me worried.

But saying that i still think it'll be good even if it isnt as good as the other 2, i mean if i enjoyed Dragon Age 2 despite its massive flaws surely anything ME3 throws cant put me off.

Whats "interesting" to me is that most of the complaints against Mass Effect 3 are easily resolved for better or worse once the game is out, given that outside of the Issues with Origin, most of the things are pure speculation (as opposed to many other games were the things that people complain about are actually announced or shown).

There's a Demo coming out, and there will be enough reviews, so yeah, why *****/bother about the bitching?

I somewhat agree with the original poster, in that I want this damn game. The multiplayer, the gamemodes, everybody elses complaints havent put me off because I want this game so I can finish the story. The only issue I have with this game is that its origin exclusive, and unless they change that, or unless I can find a way around it, I will not be buying it. That's the same way I feel for any other origin exclusive title.

The only reason I haven't pre-ordered from Amazon is that they don't have the special edition yet.

Can't agree more with you. More does not equal bad, I'm sure Mass Effect 3 will be brilliant for all those who wish to play it.

and gears of war-rip off combat
Do not tell me my complaints aren't justified. Any sane person can see they are.
I don't see how in god's name that is a con.
That combat is Mass Effect 1 was terrible.
"Gears of War" combat fixed this game, in my opinion.

Everything else I agree with, but it won't stop me from getting it.
I love the game too much to wait for EA's ***** to get some sense.

I've kept off the ME3 threads largely thus far because, I actually can't fault it that much; yeah I wasn't that enthused to hear about Jess C from IGN being made into a wierd reporter person, but hey, so far, everything else has sounded okay, so hey, I want it too and conveniently, it comes out just before my birthday, so yay!

You sir are cool enough to be allowed into my Mass Effect 3 club. Welcome brother.

We mostly sit around, eating biscuits and waiting for the 6th (or 9th if you're unlucky like me) of March to come...

So seriously people, why all the hate? Can we not give a game a chance before we've actually played it? Now if ME 3 comes out and is just one big steaming pile of poo, I'll be in the front line of the riot marching on Bioware's HQ with torches and pitchforks calling for blood. All I'm asking is that we wait to play a game before we crucify it.

/rant
So it's bad that people hate a game they've never played but it's good that they love a game they've never played.
I see you've had some time to think about this.

To be fair I might not bother with Origins, I mean Mass Effect Origins, I mean Gears of Effect 3, yeah that's the one, because I've lost faith in the series.
The Mass of War Cogs series has been a descending line in terms of my personal preference and now that I need to install another "steam" like program just to play it, I think I'll just tap out and leave you and others like yourself to enjoy Mass of Effect 3 in your own private place and time.

But thanks for sharing your opinion, I'll make a point to do and judge what ever I want when ever I want without your consent or approval.

I should also like to add that I find it rather unsettling that you would turn so easily on something you so readily defend when it fails to meet your expectations.

Its good to see a positive thread once in awhile. I'm quite optimistic for me3 and I am very cynical about most things. March come sooner please.
