Hi guys,

On my gaming website I want to do a competition to give away some goodies, like figurines or other gaming merchandise. However, since the website isn't a 'commercial' one, and is totally non-profit, I can't afford to simply go out and buy a boatload of stuff to simply give away.

Does anyone know how I'd go about contacting game developers to arrange something, or whether there's any specific protocol to be followed?

Thanks

I'd suggest sending whatever game developer you have in mind a request to engage in a promotional activity. You could try Blizzard, since they have a lot of swag and I'm pretty sure are looking for more advertising space.

1. Pick up phone
2. Talk
3. ???????
4. PROFIT!!!!!

I really have no other advice other than to make some calls and ask for some donations, that'll score you some items and in return you advertise for them.

Try speaking to the companies public relations coordinator or whoever may be in charge :/

Should be simple enough to find out contact information from the companies site or what not

When you call them make sure you explain why its in their best interest to give you free stuff. The whole "whats in it for them" thing.

Oh, and then just send the free stuff to my house. :p

Nnnnno :p

That's a good bit of advice actually. I guess I could strain that it's non-profit and I like to help promote upcoming games as well as my own website. Fanks man.

Set up a phone line that costs to use perhaps?
Like everyone else said, ask for donations and advertise their site in return.

You're welcome. My wife works in marketing and deals with these sort of promotional item requests all the time. I think stressing the non-profit aspect will help somewhat, provided that you are actually providing a helpful service to people.

Always glad to help a fellow escapee, nice ones anyways.
