You know what? I'm 22, but I'm going to have my fucking old man, "good ol'days" rant, because I've had it.

What have I had it with?

Multiplayer in games.

Actually, just one specific thing; how fucking unfair and lopsided they have become. I don't know what the fuck happened, but it needs to unhappen. Fast. I do not remember multiplayer in games being this bad last generation. Fuck, I don't even remember it being this bad at the beginning of this generation.

I'm tired of the lopsided games. I'm tired of game after game, round after round, crushing hapless foes beneath my unstoppable grasp. I'm tired of the reverse happening match after match, server after server. I'm tired of the teamstacking and the clans that are allowed to beat up on PUGs.

I'm tired of the matchmaking that doesn't work anymore and comes up with some of the most retarded matchups in the history of ever. As in Mike Tyson vs. the crippled autistic kid bad, on a regular basis.

I'm tired of having to quit out of half my games because my teammates are so garbage or are losing so badly. I'm tired of falling asleep at the keyboard and going +37 and capping 5 flags at the same time.

What the fuck happened people? It was not this bad pre-COD4/Halo 3. What happened to the close games, the fun games where it was actually a contest, or things actually were fun and not just a stomp fest? I remember the days not more than a few years ago when you talked about ALL the awesome things that happened last night while you were playing - now you're lucky if you can talk about the ONE DECENT game you might have had a couple nights ago.

I understand that the past wasn't all sunshine and roses, but it wasn't this bad. Matchmaking WORKED on the original Xbox and was pretty good at making matches - server quality didn't start going downhill until recently for many games. While my complaint mainly focuses on shooters, the problem crosses genres and systems, to things like fighters and strategy.

And what is being done/is there to be done about it? Teams/Clans are all TOO happy to take advantage of the situation, and developers seems oblivious or don't give a shit. "Oh, its just matchmaking working out some minor hiccups" - yeah.....for the last 50 games or so, I'm sure that will be a comfort to the people who had to endure going -26 vs. me, or vice versa. "Well, just join a clan/team" - yes, because the solution to a problem is to inflict the very thing I'm complaining about onto someone else.

Grrr......sigh.

Fine.

Really?

I remember engaging in numerous stomp-fests in the original Halo. Nothing like spawn-killing an entire team with a ghost for six minutes straight.

Come to think of it, at least half the matches were extended stomping sessions.

Have you played Team Fortress 2? From my experience, there are plenty of good matches on there. Sure we do get some steamroll matches, but usually team scrambles fix that.

I actually miss how in Old FPS multiplayers everybody started with the same guns and had to pick up guns that spawned in particular spots on the map with that one particular OP gun that spawned once in a blue moon. The BFG and that other big gun from Unreal Tournament comes to mind. Other then that I don't find modern Multiplayers that bad.

Except the fanbases. Fuck they can get BAD.

Plus I hate it when little kids play CoD and Halo. 2 reasons. A: They should not be playing them cause they are M for Mature games. B: Their voices Screaming into the fucking microphone hurts my ears.

lack of team scramble in most modern FPS. So in the event a steamroll team occurs, it will stay that way. rther then have it broken up at the end of the match

Well I think the problem may be that shooters and the like have become more popular, and more accessible to younger children. So you end up with people who haven't built up years of shooter experience trying to play catch up. And while some are successful, the vast majority fall on their faces and let the pros get ridiculous scores.

Yeah, good luck with that one because MP games aren't going anywhere.

Welcome to MP gaming since, well, the fucking beginning of MP gaming. You just noticed this stuff now?

So on one hand you complain that you hate clans who stomp (aka work as a team) yet you complain that your team sucks and is disorganized. lol? you can't have it both ways.

So then what should devs do? Ban clans? Get rid of coms, chat box and other TEAMPLAY features? It seems to me that your complaining because other teams are more organised than you are.

I take it your talking about shooters and such? Well yeah you can have some bad teamates but.....

Go play LoL. Go on, i'll wait. Go play that in random matchmaking and then try to tell me with a straight face that you don't want to strangle your retarded teamates with their own organs. When your done with that go play shooters again and relish in the incredibly friendly and smart teamates that you will find in every game.

BWAAHAHAHAHA!

This is so true, seriously OP go and play LoL by yourself and you will hate it, I wouldn't touch solo play with a ten foot pole due to the absolute pillocks you get stuck with.

However if you are looking for an enjoyable multiplayer experience, LoL with atleast 2 friends is an absolute blast :)

I agree, but it was (in my own subjective opinion) a lot worse a couple of years back. At least now MP is a slightly optional extra. There was a while when MP was a necessary, nay, intregral part of playing a RPG.

Sounds like you need to play TF2. Team-stacking does happen sometimes, but it's a lot less severe than in Call of Battlefield.

I agree with you so much about starting with the same weapons it is what made halo so good cause nobody was OP until they got the powerful weapon in the hard to reach place and then everyone turns on them and starts scrambling over it. I just love how becomes more about skill than what level you are or what perks your using.

So you want better matchmaking?

You could have just said that.(oh wait you did say that later in the post)

So, since you feel that every matchmaking system is wrong, how would you do it?

I remember this being a big issue in tribes ascend when I was playing, being level 30ish and both teams still mostly comprised of level 5-12 players who had apparently started playing about two days ago. Problem was, there weren't enough of us playing at 30+ who were still playing a month or three into the beta to slap together a 7v7 out of, which is pretty small for CTF. In PUGs anyway, if you were serious business and wanted to join a clan(like you said), you could play serious business games with them on some whitelisted server.

So, let's take that situation. How would you solve it?

You can force the pugging 30+s to play in their own game, which will be small at best and they'll get bored and quit or make a new character with a throwaway guerrilamail account and start stomping nubs again.

You could force them to get all srs bznz esports mlg if they want to continue to play, but again you run into the same problem, people like me who just weren't that serious about it and would've quit immediately in this situation as well.

You could base it off k/d ratio, but you have classes like technician that just throw up turrets and repair crap and don't engage in actual combat as often, which would fudge the numbers a lot.

So, i'm at a loss. How do you fix it?

Just give up on MP, man, except for TF2, every other MP experience is bound to feel like that.

I personally don't let multiplayer modes get to me because I'm a fairly competitive person and I don't let a single victory or loss change the fact that I am having fun playing with other players. I'm not out to be the best, but just be good enough to play with others, regardless of their rank or kill streak. Yes, there are idiots who cannot converse like civilized individuals and rip off someone's head at the same time, but if you look at any other form of mass entertainment, the waters are just as treacherous.

The one thing that I am glad is that whole "this is a sequel and has some shooting aspects, so we need to have a multiplayer component or else our game won't sell" fiasco that a majority of rising series adopted have come and gone. Bioshock Infinity might not have a multiplayer mode, Dead Space 3 will not have a multiplayer mode (except maybe co-op), and I'm sure other series will not fall prey to this stupid ploy.

I mean, Uncharted is a great multiplayer because it is different than any other FPS or over-the-shoulder shooters out there. It is a true parkour-style of multiplayer; climbing on various structures, shooting and aiming while lunged on a wall, quick kills and take downs, and various game modes that capitalize on this style of gameplay.

The difference is that after a few games I have accumulated a great experience that I can talk about.

The "average" game nowadays? Not so much. Halo and Battlefield 2 had always those random things happening. Played a bit of CoD this afternoon and there was not a single moment that would stand out.

Really not one person would recommend him to get a clan of his own.

Usually clan based play avoids all these problems
*vomits*

Yeah, no. I will never join any clan again unless there is a pretty good reason. And I hate leading my own clan, I'm tired of solving others' problems and having to spend time recruiting better people after half of the clan got recruited by a larger clan.

And it doesn't avoid that many problems.

then you haven't been in that good clans then.

But each to their own.
What do you mean with good clans? Those which have hundreds of members and play quite well, despite the fact you end up not knowing a lot of people outside your squad and your leaders are massive twats that need community managers to clean up after them?

Or the small ones, that end up getting recruited by larger clans? And have at least one cheater? And that annoying guy that nobody likes but you are so few that you need him?

Making your own clan is a massive mistake. Everyone does it and it requires a lot more effort than just playing alone.

The only way of setting up a band is getting some friends to do it.Just like bands. Manufactured bands have the tendency to suck and many don't last that long.

Grouping a lot of friends is hard when you're in the late teens. People have developed different tastes in games, perhaps some don't even play anymore. Or some have PS3 instead of xbox / their computer is a shitty laptop.

Trying to coordinate a bunch of retards on the internet is like playing Russian Roulette with 5 chambers loaded.

LoL has a terribad reputation for the community being insanely aggressive to newer players (i.e who aren't good). By any chance are you part of the issue?
No no no no. I am not talking about new players. I usaully don't get matched up with new players and if I do then I try to help. Im talking about people with over 300 PvP games played that make insanly stupid decisions. Not even stuff that would be excused as being new to the game, I mean walking into obvious ambushes or trying to 1v5.

Even then there are people who have played over 600 matches and lack an understanding of other character roles and yell at their teamates for completely stupid reasons, the jungler or support usaully get's the worst of this. I try my best to be accomadating to new players and I even try to be nice to the idiots I get matched up with but usaully the people who are stupid or lack understanding of an aspect of the game even after 300+ matches are the ones who give the LoL community a bad name with their constant raging.
If I am going to rage then I will just shout to myself and not bother other people with it.

This is why I spend most of my time on Halo Reach Forge world.

I have a map where you launch vehicles into a deathball basketball hoop for points. There's no way to track said points, but at least I can have my dream of Halo BasketHog!

EDIT: Forgot I still have some work to do regarding this map of mine. Still, I have the dream!!!
