So I'm in my room just chilling trying to get some reading done when a HUGE moth flys in the room. I swat it and it goes down problem solved. Or so I though because it starting flying around again later on. So I swat it again and it goes down again. Ok I though its sure to be dead now but after awhile I realize its still alive even after two direct hits! At this point its just crawling around and cant fly. So I get a tissue, squish it and throw it away.

Finally its dead...only now finally killing it has made me somewhat sad :(. Wtf?

You were beat as a child, and its resurfacing as subversive emotional projection onto the moth.

I felt bad after killing a roach once. After stepping on it, it was struggling to get up for a few seconds before keeling over.

Because you killed the poor damn thing, but you shouldn't feel sad, you just put someone out of their misery.

Because now all his moth children are going to go hungry. I hope you're pleased with yourself.

You're sad because you extinguished the life of a small and innocent creature. I get that all the time. Even killing mosquitos makes me slightly sad, although the little bastards totally deserve it.

I get that... you know how elephants have communal graveyards where they go to die? Turns out pillbugs do too. A fact that I didn't find out until after I moved into my appartment, which, it just so happens, was built on one of these pillbug communal burial grounds. It's not the hauntings that bother me so much, I mean, there's not too much difference between a real pillbug and a ghost pillbug until you try to touch it. The big problem is that they die and leave their dead shells all over my carpet for me to step on, which is disgusting.

I know I should just pick them up and throw them in the trashcan or the toilet or something... but when they're still alive I just feel so horrible thinking about killing them myself that I can't do it. So instead I end up taking them outside, and placing them lovingly on the grass so they can scamper off somewhere else and probably get hit by a car or eaten by a bird and die anyways.

I find sympathy for insects humorous given size differential is the only reason they don't slaughter/consume people.

Just be glad you didn't let it live long enough to get stuck in a bath with no ladder.

I always let moths live. And the spiders, to catch the other flying things. It works quite well. But then I have to rescue the moths from the spiders :L

Well you're sad because you committed murder for no particular reason. You should have just picked it up gently with a tissue or something and let it fly back out of the window.

Bug Problem eh? I'll resist adding Starship Troopers

Its because you killed a living being when you could have given it freedom.

Moths aren't carnivores.

Your statement does apply to cats, however. Do you have sympathy for cats?

I only kill things if they can annoy me or hurt me(such as spiders). Other wise I leave them be.
No need for killing of the innocent.

I rarely feel sad for the death of an insect.

I don't go into their homes and wander around aimlessly, why do they have to come into mine?

Heh heh.

The only things I let go are ladybirds (they're cool), spiders (my home usually is their home) or flies (I couldn't catch them if I wanted to).

You shouldn't feel sad. This thing came into your home and harrassed you. If said insect was a six foot man running randomly around your house, knocking into things, running into you, brushing past you, etc... you'd probably do something about that, wouldn't you? Heck, if you're American, you'd probably shoot him.

Feel no remorse for the horrid beast.

And I had forgotten about it too...

Also,I think there is a short story which was similar to this.
A man sees a fly and puts a blob of ink on it,it struggles out and he does it again,it makes it out again, just barely, the third and last time,he even cheers it on,but it doesn't make it out and it dies and than he becomes really sad.

The feeling of sadness will pass and soon will be replaced by a cold calm and the need to take lives IN THE NAME OF....... "cough"

I mean, I see no reason to be sad.

I never feel sympathy for insects. Every insect is a possible wasp/hornet, and we all know that those buggers have no sympathy, know no value for human life.

All insects want to fuck you over, want to destroy you. It's them, or you.

I feel no sadness whenever I kill a bug. Those little shits scare the fucking shit out of me with their ugly legs and their ugly mouths.
