If it is not coop. I know this may sound a bit weird but most games have a decent single player that I can go through in a rental, and I usually don't have xbox live so what's the point of the multiplayer feature?
If it's only multiplayer. (Only got TF2 because it was with the Orange Box.)
If it's a rhythm or RTS game.
If it's not on PC.
If I haven't researched it extensively first. I'd rather avoid wasting my money on a potentially shoddy game in the first place rather than do some uninformed impulse buying.
If the main focus is multiplayer and the singleplayer cannot stand up on its own. I don't minds games like Red Dead Redemption where the single player is amazing and the multiplayer is fun too.
