Everybody who says that 3DS games will look terrible when upscaled to a TV don't know what they are talking about.

Do they look like current gen games? Of course not. They look about like something on the Wii.
With about 15 foot (4.5 meter) mini-HDMI cable, one could plug their 3DS into a TV and the top screen would be the TV and the bottom screen would be the 3DS while sitting comfortable on the couch; basically the same experience as using a Wii U.
Frankly, if the 3DS did have the capability to output to a TV, I would have one already.
