Everybody who says that 3DS games will look terrible when upscaled to a TV don't know what they are talking about.

Do they look like current gen games? Of course not. They look about like something on the Wii.

With about 15 foot (4.5 meter) mini-HDMI cable, one could plug their 3DS into a TV and the top screen would be the TV and the bottom screen would be the 3DS while sitting comfortable on the couch; basically the same experience as using a Wii U.


Frankly, if the 3DS did have the capability to output to a TV, I would have one already.

Yeah, I normally don't like handheld consoles either, for pretty much the same reasons as you, but the XL pretty much removes all problems I had with it.
The screen is friggin' huge and the sound quality is pretty damn great. And it doesn't hurt to hold like most other handhelds seem to. It's pretty easy to forget you're playing a handheld while you use it, at least until the battery runs out.
Seriously, get an XL, you won't regret it.

BTW, my computer is connected to my 42" LCD TV and Pokemon looks great on it.

Unfortunately the capture kits which were used to make those videos are about $250. Nintendo really should have built in that feature.

Honestly, I have a 2ds (I'm a broke azz mofo!) and despite the smaller screen the game looks great. I mean, you're closer to the screen so it offsets some of the size problem, IMO. Games are meant to be readable, and seeable with that screen.

And it's still cheaper than a 3ds, or 3dsxl as it only lacks a 3d feature, and the ability to fold.

I can see your point in wanting to play it on a larger screen, though. Maybe Nintendo could make some sort of adapter?

Emulation aside, it might be nice to see some handheld game lets plays.

An modification for the 3DS to be captured already does exist, but sadly it costs about $250, not including the shipping, and I think it's only for the original models of the 3DS. I'd love for Nintendo to release some way for me to record my 3DS without me having to get an expensive modification. Hopefully they'll eventually do it, but there I go again hoping for things that will most likely never be. *still praying for them to drop region locking. XD

As someone that emulated GBA, GB, and GBC games, I can safely say that practically no matter what, a agame can look great upsized. But my standards on grtaphics are ptoly kidna low. lol
