I dunno, a surreal, Cthulu-esque world sounds like a good start for a shooter, my graphics card needs a bit less Scifi and brown rendering.

You know the last place I saw Quake 4
Which is a shame really, Quake 4 was a lot of fun. In the current era of even Duke Nukem being a cack cover based shooter we could really do with Quake 4 coming out right now, it would feel like a revolution to actually have to use health packs!

Hell yeah, Quake's back!

I must say though, they would win my respect forever if they not only had the proper single-player campaign, but multiplayer bots akin to Quake 3 Arena. I would play the hell out of that game.

Considering the first Quake is still my favorite in the series, I give a big "Hell Yes!" to this news.

I had always loved the sort of medieval/Lovecraftian atmosphere the original had, since to this day I've never played a FPS with a similar style. The prospect of another game with that style is definitely something worth watching, IMO.

I actually kind of like how Quake 1 seemed like the same levels were designed by 2 different developers, one of which thought it was a sci-fi futuristic military shoorter, and the other thought it was some Lovecraftian fantasy game. It gave the whole game this sort of mixed up frenetic "World Clashing" feel to it, and the monster designs were loveably bizzare to say the least. I don't really mind all the brown in Quake 1, because that's more or less the idea: everything in the game is supposed to be incredibly ugly and washed over (pallete wise, not graphics wise)
A reboot wouldn't be that bad, but please, bring back the non-linearity and rocket jumping. Quake 4 didn't have rocket jumping, and was therefore a disgrace to the series (among other reasons, including being developed by a completely different studio)
