Before I begin I put this in Off-topic discussion because I'm not sure if talking about an idea for a non-existant game counts as a gaming discussion or if that section is reserved for discussions about existing games. Better to be safe than sorry.
Today while getting in touch with my inner child and playing with some green and tan army men (yes, I'm 15 and I still have toys from when I was younger and I still play with them from time to time don't judge me) I was hit with a great idea for a multiplayer only online game with a storyline.
The game is set in the far future, I know another futuristic shooter (ugh) but stick with me one this its the only way the premise can make sense. Basically most of the known universe is ruled by an intergalactic empire known as the Organization. The Organization has two problems, overpopulation and a high crime rate, enter the solution Project Vallhalla. Basically the Organization arranges to fake their own collapse creating two puppet governments the Capitalist Federation and the Communist Alliance, and leading citizens to think that the Organization is gone and has fragmented when in fact it still exists running both governments. (damn I just realized how much that sounds like TF2, oh well I'll keep going) the Organization arranges for the two puppet governments to arrange to go to war, and then both hold a draft geared toward the societies failures and criminals, sociopaths, gangsters, drug dealers and the like are all drafted into the army and forcibly collected the citizens are told that the war is going on on far off frontier planets which explains why it isn't affecting their cities and such.
The criminals do not go to war regualary instead they are sent to Vallhalla Complex a planet dedicated to arenas in which the different armies do battle, the criminals minds are modified removing all memory of their previous lives and making them bloodthisty killers. The goal of the organization is to have all of its scum kill eachother effectivly reducing both the crime rate and the population without its innocent citzens finding out how corrupt of a government it really is. During the day the soldiers fight endless battle where the ultimate goal is to get into the other team's base and during the night they continue to hoarde their violent nature by competing in death matches with eachother in their own bases. The way the game works is both teams try to make it into eachothers base, each player only has a set number of lives and when one team is worn down enough it declares surrender, this is when the other team goes into anarchy-mode the goal is to make it into the enemy base before your teamates do and team-killing is allowed. The first four to make it into the base become guards of that Vallhalla basically the way the program works is if criminals manage to survive and make it into the enemy base they are seen as having proved themselves and are allowed to become guards, following this the losing team and all players on the winning team who did not make it into the base are killed and sent to another Vallhalla to try again at becoming guards.
Once your a guard your less likely to be killed and can control carnage on the battle field like auto-turrets and mines but you can be sent back to the battlefield as a lowly soldier for misusing this ability. You are also sworn to secracy and can leak the project to the public or help prisioners escape both of which authorize your fellow guards to kill you or demote you back to the battlefield. You also have to prevent prisoners from escaping at night if neither side wins during the battle in the day the soldiers are called back to their base and sent to sleep with gas. However it is possible if you log in during the night to be awake at this time and atempt to sneak out of the Vallahalla it is the job of the guards at this time to stop your from doing this and the game is more centered around stealth during then night.
