Games that tell a story, so Bioshock, HL2. Maybe not the best gameplay wise but their stories I love. Also it can be an open story where you make choices a bit like ME2+1 or the linear ones as I said before. I prefer the linear ones though.

Basically something with good story with plot twists that has an original way of playing that even if I spent the entire game swinging a giant sword it wouldnt seem repetitive.

Survival shooter with RPG elements and a completely ridiculous amount of guns set in some sort of radioactive hell-on-earth, maybe a wasteland setting, but not post apocalyptic, as it would limit weapons and tech.

Basically S.T.A.L.K.E.R. + SmP, but with a few rpg elements thrown in too.

Hmmmm...

Let's see...

- A Psychological Horror without many guns and a cool story and ambience, with characters to relate to and a twist ending you'd never see coming.
- A balanced RPG with an awesome story, characters that you'll remember and have a japanese style of character, but not too japanese-y because that'd be boring. The RPG should never be too grind-heavy since that sucks donkey balls.

So basically Silent Hill / Fatal Frame and the first Final Fantasy games, I guess...

Jagged Alliance with a controllable camera, destructible environments and rag-doll physics, so basically Jagged Alliance made with the Silent Storm engine.

I've yet to find my own Ideal game.

Because the FPS shooters have such poor stories. Though I haven't tried the story mode of MW II yet, to be frank...

But, from my past experiences with shooters (Gears of War series, Half Life series, Halo series, Bioshock...) I can expect nothing new.

I have honestly no idea what my ideal game would be. On what would I place the most emphasis? Story? Atmosphere? Setting? Gameplay? Appearance? Genre? Replayability (is that even a word)? What would I consider essential, what would I be willing to sacrifice and most importantly what would I enjoy? I haven't even considered it until now.

If I were to choose however, my ideal game would be my ideal for any medium: something that inspires me. Something that reaches deep into my mind and forces me to experience everything that it wants me to against my will, at a profound level. Something that transcends genre or audience or rating or any label we can devise and falls into what can only be called art. Something that will cement itself in my mind as one of the best of anything I have ever experience, and will ever experience. Ore wo dare datte omote yagaru!
