Ideas for a Death Battle opponent for Saitama

On the one hand, if his conceit of "one serious punch will eat any opponent" holds true across all power levels, the only way for someone to last against him would be if they could go intangible, like a Martian Manhunter sort of deal.

On the other hand, Anime Saitama has only been shown to have to serious punch a Saiyan-Saga Vegeta level bad guy. (Kill the earth with one big energy attack.). Considering Zarbon or Dedoria were capable of that, well... If we go web-comic Saitama, then after his fight with Tasumaki, I'd put him around at least Captain Ginyu. The problem with getting an even slightly accurate read on Saitama's power level is that he needs to struggle with something.

So, yeah. Squirrel Girl or something would be the only "fair" fight.

Yeah, put me down for Squirrel Girl.

Saitama is a parody character arbitrarily powerful enough to defeat his opponents in one punch. Unlike Goku, his limits have never been defined. Unlike Superman, there is no indication he is truly limitless.

Squirrel girl is a good match for that.

Applying Spacebattles logic is just a headache.

Chuck Norris might work but he already was in a death battle.
I think he's STILL in his Death Battle.

OT: So, my thought process went like this...

"Hmmm, who could actually stand up to the One-Punch Man, the man with too much strength? Someone who can't be affected by physical combat? Someone supernatural? Or..."

O_O

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!"

ASURA IS THE ONE.

He is the MILLION punch man, a super-destructive and massively durable god-man-thing empowered by his ever-increasing rage. His powers are beyond the impossible, and all it takes to set them in motion is to make his daughter, Mithra, cry.

Saitama VS Asura

Pledge your mantra today.

Kenshiro.

Shortest DB ever no matter who wins, but the last one was a measly three minutes so I don't believe they care so much about length any more. One Minute Melee would be more suitable.

I keep suggesting Little Mac versus Rocky Balboa (with Doc Louis and Mickey Goldmill on the sidelines) to them, but if Mac can survive Champion mode (KO in one hit from anything, 3 KOs and you lose), his dodging skills might be able to match Saitama too.
I dunno, maybe Kenshiro Vs. Johnathan Joestar would be a better match up. Kind of an "inspiration Vs.what was inspired" kinda deal (plus, it'd be epic as crap to see a Pummel Duel between the Hundred Crack Fist and Sunlight Yellow Overdrive).

The problem is, there is no real way to defeat Saitama. His biggest conflict he has is the existential crisis of attaining one's dream and then having nothing left. He's essentially unkillable and kills anything in one punch, which is the entire point of him, a joke on shounen characters and superman.

Any fight he would be in would have to be either him trying to extend it as long as possible just to have fun, or have the rest of his cast fighting someone as he tries to go find the best deals on coffee.

As to the death note thing, the pen would probably run out of ink, the pencil tip break, any method of writing smear or be unable to write his name out of some fluke of forcing Saitama to continue to suffer from constant boredom. That said, the sheer anti-climactic nature of the death note would be suiting if it could work against him, going along with the nature of the One Punch Man series.

Or it could backfire and just make him die of old age in the future, technically completing the function of the death note.

Really though, Saitama is a deconstruction of shounen and superhero's, making him a bit hard to actually put into any death match thing without getting excessively convoluted to make it work.

A good opponent would be one who could absorb or become immune to physical force. I'd recommend Sebastian Shaw of the Hellfire Club (can absorb kinetic energy), The Vision (can alter his density from intangible to diamond hard), or Shadowcat (intangibility).

I'm mostly basing it off of both bad guys "putting all of their energy into their attack" which would "destroy all life on the planet". The problem with comparisons is that OPM is significantly flashier then DBZ, or even DB Super. (Side note: TOEI needs to stop with the weekly episodes and poach some of the OPM fight choreographers)

It's like comparing the powerlevels of Legolas and Faramir. Legolas does the cool, flashy thing where he tumbles around the oliphant killing all the orcs and eventually taking down the beast, Faramir takes out two by throwing a spear. Who's more powerful?

Umm, isn't Saitama his last name? Isn't it his first name we don't know?

someone talked about saitama vs the hulk, especially world buster level,

would be something interesting,

or i think cable from xmen where he can take somones energy and return it to him, if he could adsorb and rechannel the power of his punches would be interesting

Other possible ridiculous answers to the conundrum:

Age/Belcross from Heroic Age
Any other Nodos as well
Old Man Henderson
Deadman and other ghostly beings
Anybody with extreme mental powers

The Doctor
The Master
Rassilon
AM (Allied Megacomputer)
Infinity Gauntlet Thanos
Star-Lord (with a dance-off)
Batman

Yes, OF COURSE freakin' Batman. If Saitama's a hilarious Superman trope, then he's defeatable by the crazy-prepared awesome vigilante. And let's not forget that this probably means he's capable of being hurt by magic too, which thus includes...

Lucifer
The Demi-Fiend
The Seven Endless
The Fae
John fucking Constantine
Harry frigging Dresden
Mumm-Ra

Majin Buu
Nyx (Persona 3 version)
Izanami (Persona OR Blazblue version)
Neo Exodus (Final Fantasy 5)
Any character who can re-write the localized reality
The Profound Darkness and Dark Falz

Several Eldritch abominations also apply. Nyarlathotep, Azathoth, and Yog-Sothoth for being just too powerful. Abhoth, Nyogtha, and Ubbo-Sathlah for being basically indestructible. Daoloth for being dimensionally untouchable. And a host of others for just being self-resurrecting or otherwise empowered weirdly or made physically impossible.

Special shout-out to Gazuga, the giant three-eyed winged red ape, leader of the Army of the Undead and Possibly Brain-Damaged.

I'm pretty sure that Saitama's power limit has been stated.

He doesn't have any. Apparently God gives everyone a limiter setting their potential power level. The reason that Saitama is so powerful is that he broke his, meaning that his power is literally infinite. He's as strong as he needs in the moment.

Which is why it's hilarious to see people get upset when you explain that Saitama is stronger then goku or superman. That fact he's a parody of their power fantasy character goes completely over their heads. I once stated that I could draw a stick figure, and declare him stronger then superman. That's basically what the original One Punch Man was.

Maris the Supergirl?

So strong she has to wear restraints that keep her strength in check or she pulverizes the ground just walking.

Saitama is a parody of the typical shonen protagonist. He's as strong as he's ever going to be but all of his getting strong happened before the series begins. He doesn't really fit in versus matches the same, since he doesn't have a set how powerful he is. You could place him up against someone who manipulates matter, or someone who simply takes him to a place where there's no oxygen since he's still biologically human. But in a fist fight I don't really see a propper opponent just like there's no proper opponent for Squirrel Girl.

Gold Experience Requiem.

His powers can negate anything, basically. Think it's described as "The nullification of cause and effect." Literally nothing can touch him, as he can return things like "will to fight" and power to zero. He is the end all, be all OPness. Saitama would get repeated loop deaded forever.
