After returning to Borderlands 2 after a while and being pleasantly surprised at how strong its player base still is, I started thinking about what they should bring or fix for the inevitable third one. Here's a few ideas:
- Fix the fucking vehicles for chrissakes. I'm not too bothered by it, but they still control atrociously.
- Fire the guy who thought giving bosses three digits worth of extra health was a good idea. Longer boss fights aren't more difficult, they're more dull.
- Better loot drops. One of the most baffling things about BL2 to me was the insane rarity of decent loot, to say nothing of legendary drops. I've cleared The Warrior multiple times with 4 players, and still come up with jack shit. Just scale it back to the way it was in the first and we're good.
- Individual loot drops for each player. No more bickering over who gets to keep the one legendary you've gotten in 15 hours of gameplay.
- New weapon types. I'm not sure if melee weapons would fit Borderlands, but I'd certainly like to see flamethrower type weapons: short range, medium to low damage, but huge spread for crowd control.
- Better character animation. Borderlands has one of the most colourful casts in gaming, but having them be bug-eyed dolls feels like a waste and especially jarring when the voicework is so stellar.
- How are they going to top Handsome Jack with a new villain?
So there's my list. Any other ideas?
