Ideas for my Speech Class

So yeah basically I have this 5 week speech class that started today.(Monday, Aug 30) And I have two speeches I will have to give. First one is due in. . . two weeks? the schedules not real clear on that

The first(I think) is a informative speech. I've already decided not to do it on anything food related(i.e. donuts are awesome) and I know a guy who took this class and got a good grade with a 'Come to the Dark Side!(We have cookies)' speech, so I can't use that but I know the teacher will accept some off-the-wall topics and I'd love to hear some of your ideas.

The second speech is supposed to be Persuasive.
These Speeches will be peer reviewed I believe, there is a form online for it anyway. I may not use your ideas but if I do, I might give you a nice 'thank you' message! (all the incentive you need right?)

I will probably won't use any ideas that make me embarrass myself to bad and no inappropriate ideas either. . . pervs. . .

I did a political speech connecting the apathy of citizens to the adventures of Luke Skywalker getting up off of his ass and doing stuff. It was the teacher's favorite speech ever, and most of the students were impressed that I chose a ridiculous topic for comparison like Star Wars and managed to work it into a relatively eloquent speech telling people to stop lazing around and vote for things.

Perhaps that could be your persuasive speech?

Unfortunately, I am at college right now, and my speech is on my home computer, if I even have it. I could put it up this weekend, but it might end up tl;dr.
