A Hermit's Cave
... people by odour...

OK, full creep mode turned on now, but I was wondering about this for a while...

I have hyperosmia, which is more of a curse than anything else, for obvious reasons. But one of the few plus sides... if you can call it that... >_> ... <_< ... is that I can generally identify people by their smell, even if they've been to the gym or bathed in cologne/deodorant/perfume (OK, maybe not the last one, or at least not all the time). Sure, most people can recognise others by sight (remarkably, there are those who have 'face-blindness', or something like that), by voice (though it can be disguised), why not odour?

Anyone else like this? No?

*shrug*

...

I'm not a stalker, I swear... ¬_¬

Only my fiancee, mother, father and sister.

The first one is great!

The last 3, I don't like to think about...

That's not to say that I sniff people, just that if you handed me a t-shirt warn by any of the four, I could probably identify it by odor.

There is one person in my class that always smells absolutely horrible, so he's an obvious example.

My sister, brother-in-law, and niece use a pretty distinct-smelling laundry detergent, so I could probably pick them out by smell as well.

Back in the old days when I used to have sleep overs at friends houses I would be able to identify the smell of someone's house on my clothing afterwards and each of my friend's houses had a distinct smell but I don't think I could identify people unless they smelt really badly. Actually no that's not true I know a guy who wears a crap-ton of Axe all the time so I can smell him coming but I can't identify people's actual scents.

No but I can tell food from its smell.

Here's my interesting way to identify people, I can tell from the sound of there movement.
doesn't matter what surface they're on so long as I can hear them.
It's just the way they move.

I can do this as well. Everyone seems to have a unique pattern when they move so I can tell from that

I have no sense of smell. At least, not in the active smelling department. Food tastes lovely, but I can't tell there's a skunk around unless I see or hear it.

Well new born babies actually recognise their mothers by smells initially as they can't distinguish faces, so it;s not that odd really. I'm short sighted so if someone is at a distance I recognise them by their shape and gate.
