I think part of the appeal is that it's a less random experience, with concerts there is always the chance that the performer will do poorly or be tired/drunk. The appeal lies within the music itself as well as the spectacle of a completely electronic experience, this is the reason that the Gorillaz and Dethklok can put on fun shows. love of the music and technology, much like seeing a movie rather than a play.

I can see that, but I still don't like the idea of completely artificial shows.

The same sort of thing happened with Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within. "Aki" is the name of the character model that plays Ming-na's character (the main heroine). She was intended to be the world's first digital actress, the same character model appearing in different movies playing different roles. But, Spirits Within bombed, so that idea sort of went down the drain with the rest of it.

This think with Hatsune Miku is interesting, though. I've known about the Vocaloids for a while, and I knew that they had named and given a physical appearance to all of their voices, but it never occurred to me they would actually go this far. I guess I shouldn't be surprised, though. This is Japan we're talking about.

I don't know why but this strikes me as kind of strange, don't get me wrong that is a really cool use of technology but I would rather a person singing in front of me rather than a projection.
It's still pretty cool though has to be said.

Is anyone else just astounded that this technology exists today?
I mean yes its a popstar thing but my god.
Maybe this isn't a real person but there was alot of work put into the technology to make this work.
