Simple. I'd just knock. There aren't going to be any cops around while I'm knocking on my friend's door, and they sure as hell aren't going to call them on me.

I'm sure the point of this thread is looking for a creative answer though. Maybe I'd play an annoying song on my car stereo like Chacarone or Yakety Sax

I would build an identical house right next to theirs.

There I would wait...in the dark...patiently, knowing that one day they'd come home drunk or too tired to notice and they'd walk into my venus fly house. Then they would be mine...

And I'd be all like, here is the crescent wrench that my husband borrowed and then lost and I was forced to go down to Sears and get a replacement and no one knows how to convert metric to imperial anymore and why do you even have a metric wrench you drive a Ford!

If it was during the day? I'd send an IM/email/call on the phone to tell them when I plan on stopping by. That way they can hang around outside, leave the door open, or watch through the window for when I get there.

If it's night time... It'd have to be an emergency to try to wake someone up to be let in.

On a more serious note, I've pretty much stopped answering the door unless I know I have a delivery coming, as I've realised no-one knocking on my door is doing it for my benefit.

My friends and family call first, anything important, like inspections or gas tests, they make an appointment, so all I'm left with are annoying sales visitors, charity chuggers, people trying to get me to switch my gas supply to my phone company, or my cheese supply to my sausage vendor or something.

Screw em all, I'm just gonna let them knock in future. I say that because I'm too polite to say it to their faces, it's easier if I'm just not in.

Honestly, the moment people starting knocking on my door to give me ten pounds and say 'have a nice day' is the moment I consider answering the door again.
