It's that despite all the idiots running around on the Internet, a place dedicated solely to gaming won't be filled with a bunch of frat boys drunkenly talking about Black Ops or little kids spamming everything

... it's that RPG elements are serious business.

We're talking life and death here.

That the internet is insane. But in a very, very good way.

Also, that there is always someone to help if you ask.

That PC elitists are everywhere, and gorram annoying.

To be less cynical, The Escapist has taught me that there really are some good places to discuss issues on the internet.

That people are really weird, no matter how long they're able to hide it.

That some people are asking to be be suspended/banned.

For some reason, this page is especially high rate of this.

That even when surrounded by mostly like minded people, it's still hard to find people with the same opinions.

It's taught me to appreciate games' potential as art, not just fun.

That's the site as a whole, though. The forums have taught me that my opinions are very concise compared to most people. I'm usually writing one or two paragraphs, or even just a couple of sentences, whereas I see a lot of big ol' walls of text from other people.

I guess I just don't like to beat around the proverbial bush.

EDIT: Oh, and it's taught me that overly frequent captchas are really freaking annoying.

Don't push buttons when instructed too.

Ponies are an unerasable disease.

Whatever you plan to post, it was posted before two years ago and someone will report you for it.

People hate JRPGs and will play possum if you try to show them good ones.

There are way too many cynical misanthropes in this world. Also, that making original games can't be stressed enough.

No matter what you like or dislike, there will always be someone who hates/loves what you love/hate and feel the need to take it on themselves to tell you how wrong you are.

I guess that's an extension of the "there's always a bigger asshole than you" thing.

Please don't ask for penalties by disrespecting the site, staff or mod team. We're here to help you.

You're making us into what you fear by blatantly saying that. If you hadn't, no one would take issue with you.
