If we had to start over again...

I've been watching the stargate universe (dont go on about it, its not that great) and near the end of the second series...

!!SPOILERS!!
They find a group of people that are their descendants and have (through worm-hole, time-travelling trickery) been living in a galaxy far far away for about 2000 years.
!!END SPOILERS!!

My question to you is if you were put on a new planet (similar to Earth) with only what you know now and the clothes on your back, and a few other survivors:

How would you survive?

What would you teach your children?

How would you organise leadership and government?

What would you put in your constitution, would you even have one?

Personally i think I'd survive quite well. The first order of business would be food and shelter, then onto the repopulating (YAY)!

We would have to start with the basics like wooden and stone tools but making sure that once a certain technology level is reached, we use the resources responsibly.

I don't really know what would be in my constitution except for things similar to what we have now, maybe a bit more ecologically sound and as egalitarian as possible.

Answer as many or few as you want, im interested to know.

to be perfectly honest, i would abolish religion, as it has lead to many of the wars in history and held us back *im looking at you dark ages* technologically ( i will probably get banned for this but it's my opinion so i'm sticking with it)

First Priorities would be food and shelter, then repopulation as you said

i would form a firm but fair government, none of this benefits bullshit we see here in the UK, only if you are deserving of benefits, shall you receive them.

i would form jobs for people, such as Farming, Hunting, Teaching etc. all this would evolve over time as we gather better resources and learn more

i would most likely be a Teacher and teach everyone what i know, and then the 'scientists' can take this further just as they do now

i would have a strong funding behind Science and Schools etc, i would form a small army, but just to police the area we live, seeing as we are the only people on this planet

Men and Women would have equal rights, and there would be no race or gender discrimination of any sort]

All drugs would be illegal, only alcohol allowed, if you are caught abusing alcohol outside certain events, you will be arrested. you can drink alcohol at your own home but only on your days off.

Then we would live happily ever after and hopefully advance quicker than we did here on Earth

I'd do most of the typical stuff, fair democracy, equal rights for all etc... but I'd also found a sort of pseudo-religion based around community and helping one another for the common good, because I think often people are too caught up in materialism and everyone would be happier if we were united by a common belief in ourselves.
