Okay, say we, the human race, say.. discover that somewhere in the universe there is a fully sentient race, end end up with the same high advanced technology as them (assuming they are technologically advanced), and eventually they discover and offically contact us,and either we end up with a hostile relationship with each other, or we engage in peaceful diplomatic relations, Mass Effect style. And also, Mass Effect style, we use said technology to seek out inhabitable planets and colonize them, making the most of whatever we find here.

what exactly relations would you try to make with aliens? and what lifestyle would you seek out with the new galactic society you'd be living in?

Me? I'd try to be friendly with anyone of them I can, just as I do with my fellow humans.

but I wouldn't share the philosophy that the aliens are superior to us, but I won't believe they are by any means inferior either.

Also, I'd consider a career as a diplomat between humans and whatever aliens we meet up with, trying to use mediation to help see peace between humans and aliens.

As i find a perspective of not being alone in the universe quite fascinating, and abhor racism (or specieism, in that case), i would be all-out for peaceful and equal living. There is no place in the future for those ready to opress other species just because they feel like it.

As for occupation? I'd drop everything i have now, get off that stupid planet, and become a xenobiologist. Ooooooh yeaaaaah.

I'd treat the aliens like aI treat almost every human being in the world, with a respectful manner, only turning hostile when I begin to lose an arguement(which is frequent, by the way.), and then only resorting to yelling and making more of an idiot of myself.

I would try to learn as much as possible about their culture and respect their wishes with regards to how they want to interact with humans (unless it's something like "We want to kill all of you and eat your spleens"). Knowing us, the nations of the world would decide to peacefully welcome the aliens and one nation would accidentally-on-purpose nuke them.

I would treat them normally. There's no reason to throw a fit just because someone happens to be from another planet, as long as they're peaceful about it.

I'd build a cabin on a small breathable planet somewhere. Exterminate the race living there. Then sit on a rockable chair with a shotgun on my lap all day, telling everyone who lands to piss off. "This here's my planet".

It's impossible for me to say without having a more concrete notion of the aliens. If they had crabs for faces I'm sure I couldn't get along with them, the idea is just to foreign to me. It would depend on a multitude of factors really.

If they were hot intergallactic quarians it would be a different matter though. Free Earth tours, then back to mine for roofies cocktails.
