I'm confused. Are you saying that it's better for the world to be living a lie with the eternal threat of a giant monster created by your own religion, led by the nose of people who are undead and shouldn't be there, to never be free of the re-occurring terror that prevents advancement or development of a culture beyond the limits it was in?

Uhh, the end result of all the stuff they did was that the longstanding Xanatos Gambit done by the long-dead(ish) prophet is revealed, the monster and the ability for him ever to return is GONE, and the world is able to proceed as about as normal as any Final Fantasy game gets. Incidentally, this doesn't mean I justify the dubious sequel. I'm just saying that epic giant monster fight is epic and I like that answer to stuff better.

Have the game end with the final summoning. Get rid of all the crappy dream of a dead ghost, super airship nonsense and turn it into something much more poignant.
I LIKE the Sin battle.
From a story perspective? You don't think it undermined it completely? For me going on a pilgrimage to discover just how much it means to give the world its few years of peace and growing up enough to realise that is a cause worth giving your life for is a lot more interesting than destroying the world destroying monster through the power of love and J-Pop.
It is more that realising the established Religion and way of thinking you have followed your entire life is wrong and even the cause of the continued suffering and then stopping it. Well it is more that in my opinion.

OT: Burn the fucking sphere gird system in a fire never to be seen again.

No, I'm saying that's better for the story. So much of the game is focussed on learning how devastating and unstoppable Sin is that there's no way it should be killed off forever at the end, and certainly not just by being sufficiently bad-ass.

for saying what I am about to say, the flaming I recieve shall be legendary, even in hell, nevertheless I shall say it

I loved Final Fantasy X warts and all, and I wouldn't change a thing

but then again it has been years, I may change my mind after playing it again...and I had forgotten about the infamous laugh scene, but even that was part of the experience for me

EDIT: actually upon further thought, I would have preferred a more conventional levelling system rather than the sphere grid, gimme good ol' EXP and levels to 100 any day

With a remake/ remaster of Final Fantasy X coming in the near future I thought it would be interesting to find out what my fellow escapists would change if they could change one thing and one thing only.

This came about from a conversation I had with a friend where we decided we would probably either change the voice acting for certain characters (Tidus, Wakka and Rikku mostly) or change some of the character models (Seriously Tidus? Leather Lederhosen?)
TIDUS

I hate him. Really though, the worst part of the game is near the end where you fight evil Tidus, that is really stupid.
wait a minute, evil Tidus? remind me? I don't remember that (unless that's a joke)

Tidus dies in the beginning and we get to play as Auron instead.
Game saved!
Totally the right move keep the romance too Yuna deserved better.

The game let's you get friendship with any character not just Yuna so why am I forced to be with her for a J-pop backdrop kiss (no offense Yuna I still love you but I want options).
Also I understood why they didn't take Yunalesca's offer but why was Sin all of a sudden not invincible anymore I mean in a 1000 years no one ever tried to climb on and punch the big glowing spot (and don't say they couldn't fly because aeons).

Also FFX-2 was not only awesome but was rated just as good if not better by most professional critics look it up bitches.

Really? All of you guys are asking for changes concerning story and characters. Am I the only one who's going to ask for a change in the gameplay section?

*sigh*

Very well then, I want each character to have at least one unique skill set. Once you clear the entire sphere grid, every character ends up being the same (apart from Overdrive moves). Hell, you can't even say that the equipment is still unique, because you can manually decide all the perks! The only one who has something unique is Yuna.

I just don't like it when characters get completely identical after you max them out. Final Fantasy XII kind of had the same issue. At least with job based titles like FF III, V and X-2 you still have to make choices about what tool set you'll be using in battle. Same goes for FF VII and VIII. (And, of course, FF VI and IX don't have that problem at all.)

Why not? By killing Yunalesca, the ability to make another Sin was lost forever. After that, there can never be another one even if NO ONE is badass enough. This is what happens when your resurrection plan is external and dependent on mass manipulation. The idea is that eventually, enough people get tired of it and go badass. The story focuses on what happens WHEN that happens, not when the same pattern is repeated forever. The story is "This is what happeend when the world changed". It isn't the same if nothing happens.

EDIT: Hey, I just thought of something. Lavos came to the Earth to use and manipulate all the power of the world and its lifeforms towards its own evolution. It's a time-traveling, space-going badass, but...you'd kill it in a heartbeat, right? Rather than accepting the inevitable?

Metacritic says no.

Both critic and user reviews.

Final Fantasy X-2 was a pain because of the shameless re-hash of locations and enemies, which in and of itself includes models, textures, rigs, skins, animations, etc. I guess music is a matter of personal taste, but if I compare FF X-2's soundtrack with that of - oh I don't know - FF IX, I can't help but feel a little insulted. The story... Well, I guess if you think the story of FF X-2 is actually any good, you probably think the plot of Twilight is utter genius. I mean, sure, FF X does not have the best story in the series, at all, but FF X-2 did some really bad things.

The only good thing about the game is the combat gameplay - which really is quite good. It's a throwback to the good ol' job system, but with some nice twists. All the jobs have an expansive skill set and the Garment Grid allows for extra depth in battle tactics. Of course the names "dress sphere" and "garment grid" are somewhat idiotic and the "Special dress spheres" are some of the most useless things ever, but in the end, it's still a very good system. Especially since they brought back the ATB-mechanic, which made the combat more intense than in FF X.

I would say that I would change the characters. Auron seemed to be the only great character while the two main characters (Yuna and Tidus) annoyed me beyond belief.

Have it so Tidus "dies" during the Zanarkind opening and play the rest of the game from Aurons perspective as a result. Not alot even has to change with the plot and the game will only be better for this...

God, it's so hard to choose...

Blitzball?
The idiotic levelling system grid-thingy?
Blitzball?
The crappy voice acting?
Blitzball?
Oh, I know, those fucking timing puzzles in the temples!
Fucking Blitzball?!
Literally all of the characters?

But no, at the end of the day, I think what I hated even more than Blitzball was the horrible, fucking horrible limit break minigames to determine damage. No. NO! Bad game! I'm not playing a turn-based battle system so that I can play a silly button-mashing or slot game to determine the power of my attacks. I'm trying to have a turn-based battle here; I select an attack and my guy does the damn attack. Don't give me some god damned quicktime event!

This was the game that killed FF for me, as I never finished it and never went back (won't even re-play VII anymore), so asking me just to choose one thing that needs fixing is impossible :p

Remove Blitz-Ball so that everyone can see the game for how crappy it really is. >:3

A more "FF-Fan Friendly" answer would be to leave the voice acting in Japanese and just give it English subtitles, all the English voices in that game are just god awful.

Alternatively, remove the "Teach me to laugh, Tidus!" scene and shoot whatever writer thought that would be a good idea.

Glad to see I'm not the only jaded former FF fan in here. :3
