If you could change the color of gaming.

So one of the biggest problems with fps's these day's is that they're seem to be made entirely out of different shades of grey, which is pretty unironic when you think about it.

So if you could switch grey into 2 other colours, what would they be?

Edit: Just to clarify, the absolute only thing I am suggesting in this OP is that grey fps's are stupid.

Pink and white, just to fuck with the color Nazi's.
Or Blue and Neon Yellow, cause that would be funny.

The problem is not the absence of color, but the fact that everyone seems to think that washing them out is the way to go realistic. I'd say the current colors stay, but are more vivid and varying in shades.

For example, I would have liked Battlefield 3 for its graphics if the plants were actually green

Jale and Ulfire. Yep. Have fun figuring that one out!

Anyway, I feel it's not just the colors that are terrible, it's the whole concept that's terrible. Shooters themselves are actually a mechanically sound game type, but thanks to "that sort of people they appeal to," shooters almost always end up with some of the most boring, blandest, unoriginal settings ever. Most of them are just taken directly from real life and made as visually stale as possible. If our gaming technology can let us build any world imaginable, why would you want to go to a crumbling sandlot in the Middle East or a muddy field in France?

I don't need to because planetside 2 is coming out next year.

Yes, let's get rid of the brown and grey with... brown and grey.
BRILLIANT.

OT: I dunno. Add more greens, more blues, I guess.

You're right. A game where one empire's armor is bright red, another blue and yellow, and the third is teal / purple, with multiple biomes (marsh, winter, desert, etc) is totally brown and grey. The picture above doesn't even have any brown; it's a red environment.

So much facepalm!

DAMMIT i was gonn say pink and white ! GET OUTTA MY HEAD !.

Well since pink and white is taken, i'ma go with black and and white! I'd like to see a little more artistic games , something like the movies , Sin city , schinlers list and sucker punch . Sucker punch wasn't black and white , but it was very dark, and i think that movie would make an AMAZING horror game if done properly.

To me that looks more brown with a hint of orange.
And you could have chosen a better picture to represent all these bright colours really, because as someone whose never seen another screenshot from Planetside 2 it's not really a great representation of "new colourful game".

Make them vibrant. All the tree's do not have to be dead, and terrorists could have nicely painted blue walls or red or yellow. It's not completely out of the question you know, terrorists can have taste!
It still rains in a wasteland, plants can still grow. You know, those green things you see outside in real life.
The only time there shouldn't be multitudes of colour is in an extremely wintery environment (its snowy and stuffs) and deserts. Jungles and cities can be bright and vibrant.

It's red! http://www.destination360.com/north-america/us/arizona/images/red-rocks.jpg

I chose a great screenshot. You can see red jets, blue and yellow jets, and blue and yellow tanks, in a RED ROCK environment.

I like color as much as the next guy, but there's no reason to eye rape the players with neons.

I thought the problem was with brown, every shooter for the last few years have either been brown or grey.

Then again I don't play shooter's so I'm not too worried!

Sorry man, I'm just not seeing it. I can see the red planes, sure, I see the blue, once I enlarge and zoom in on it, but I'm struggling to see the yellow. And it still looks like browny-orange to me.

Let's bring back bright red and green. More importantly, let's bring back the fluorescent blue carpet. Spaceports need interior decorators just like everybody else.

I wouldn't want to limit the possible colours of an entire genre at all. They just need to make more colour across the field. Keep grey/brown and the gritty/realistic shooters by all means, but don't let that be the only thing that the genre does. Have some crazy neon colours for a sci-fi shooter, or lush greens etc. for games set in jungles (like Far Cry), or anything at all. That said if you want to limit your colour palette to create a certain artistic style then go for it. Although it's not really an FPS I was really impressed with the use of colour in Mirror's Edge. Mostly bright white with touches of very crisp and vibrant reds, blues and yellows. Very dramatic and stylistic. I liked it a lot.

I loved Halo's palette - the vibrant outdoor environments, the purple and blue Covenant ship interiors, etc. It just had a slight blandness with some of the Forerunner internal settings, although they did have a little splash of colour here and there.
