If you could delete one game forever, what would it be?

Clearly "X Rebirth"! I just want to forget that I played this abomination that took them 7 years to make. Egosoft released a completely broken game that even if they fix all the bugs won't be good because most of the game design itself is horrible.
We want more stuff the player can do so we added:
- minigames at every opportunity
- the need to fly to every station every 30 or 60 minutes to refresh the prices they offer because obviously in the distant future there is neither internet nor any kind of communication on ranges over 100 m
- Having to hire personnel. You have to find personnel for every ship you build, every station, every everything. To hire them you have to visit uncountable numbers of stations that will randomly have the NPC you want. Even better, your ships are still completely dependant on your orders. You have a captain on your trade ship? Well don't expect him to do anything on his own. Even if he runs out of fuel he will come to you and ask "Hey boss I'm out of fuel! What do I do now?"

The worst thing is, a lot of the features they added sounded good on paper.
Targeting subsystems of enemy ships was a feature that Freespace 1 already had and when they finally added it into X:R I was quite happy. The problem is that this leads to you being able to destroy every enemy ship just by destroying it's engine and then sitting in some position where it's guns can't reach you.
Even better were the statements Egosoft made after getting horrible reviews everywhere. They went like: Oh well this is the most successful game for us ever and those who are having problems are obviously just 1% of the user base and a vocal minority.
The greatest pity is probably... we won't see another good X game again. Egosoft have clearly gone mental.

I would delete Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, or wichever of the Call of duty games that started the COD craze and ruined atleast for me how a multiplayer FPS is supposed to be.

I miss the good old days in a FPS when strafing and rocketjumps was a thing, when playing competetive was like being in the matrix but there was no slowmo. No regenetive health, you had to find weapons/healthpacks on the map and dont need to unlock them.

Tho i admit the whole perk and unlock thing isent all that bad, its fun to some degree and gives a reason to play, but FPS games have gone so...bland compared to what they were, this may just be me thats turning old and grumpy.

Actually, to hell with the rules. I'm working off logic here, why would "Game Title 2" be released and titled as such even if the original never existed? I'd get rid of Final Fantasy and nip it in the bud. Prevent the hellspawn that is that awful franchise.

Tomb Raider: Anger of Darkness.

There's a reason they took a break and started the franchise over after that bomb hit.
God, I remember how everyone was hyping this up before release. Tomb Raider was still sort of big-ish, and the marketing couldn't shut up about how this would expand the series into a dark and mature direction.

And then we got a Tomb Raider game that played like a D-grade Resident Evil.

Apparently, one of the BETA builds was actually stable. ;_____;

And the plot wasn't even THAT bad (although it was still pretty sub-par), but the game just murdered itself everywhere else. Too bad we had to wait ten years to get that dark and mature Tomb Raider we wanted. At least we got it, though!

It may be super bad, but if it makes Sonic 06 look decent in comparison, that's an amazing feat!
True, and that's amazing all it's own.

Agreed, I'm still bitter that Jon left before they could honor their promise to complete it. :/
If it's any consolation, and while I'm not as funny, after I do the Sonic Heroes LP I'm skipping Shadow and I'm doing Sonic 2006, and worst of all it's the PS3 version of it...I must secretly be a masochist because I'm also gonna be doing the GameCube version of Enter the Dragonfly as well.
I might just watch that, though watching two people go nearly insane was already taxing on me. XD

None, absolutely none. If I was forced, then maybe Ride to Hell.

Yes it came out in 2006 and YES! I am still bitter about that bitter about it, one could go as far as to say I am angry. I know I know Fighting games, who cares about the story right? Well this idiot right here did >..<!!
It kind of annoys me when people defend Mortal Kombat 2011's story flaws (cough cough Sindel) with "It's a fighting game", especially when the Devs were hyping up the campaign experience before launch. But I'm in the minority.

You mean to tell me that in that BETA you didn't walk around like a cripple for the first 2 hours? That's really the only thing I remember from the whole experience; Slowly walking around with a lot of fixed camera positions. By the time I was allowed to run and jump I had stopped giving a fuck. I never even got to that douchy second playable character.

I know personal tastes are involved here, but just which Final Fantasy games have you played? The whole group is eclectic enough that I find it hard to fathom someone that enjoys RPGs disliking all of them... but hey, different strokes and all that.

I actually did get to the second playable character (who literally has no reason to exist as far as I can tell, he locks Lara in an elevator ten hours in and continues on in exactly the same direction that she was going) but the game finally glitched to death there and I ragequit.

It's really a shame, too, because it had a couple really good tombs in it that you had to navigate with the absolute worst controls.

Christ, why did I talk myself into reviewing the whole Tomb Raider series? I'm going to have to replay and finish this crap.

Yep, definitely. I would love to know what has happened behind the scenes that led to this disaster. I mean they clearly knew what they were releasing to the public.

On one hand I'm still hoping they somehow get through all of this so that they can release another game because there are no real alternatives to the X series. On the other hand...what good could come from a studio that behaves like this?

Duke Nukem Forever. It would then retain its status as the game that never was, a tale of mystery passed down from generation to generation of gamers, and we could imagine that maybe it would've been something awesome instead of the forgettable garbage that it turned out to be.

League of Legends, all the way. That game and My Little Pony have mutated my brother from a normal human being into an annoying hipster douchebag who wears a scarf indoors.

because Game Title 2 could still be made if Game Title 1 was never made. only if Game Title 2 depended on Game Title 1 like Mists of Pandaria is for World of Warcraft. at most, Game Title 2 could be renamed to Game Title 1 if it was called Game Title 2 as opposed to Bioshock and Bioshock Infinite

If we erased things we thought were mistakes, then how would we know they're mistakes? All it would mean is that someone else would go 'Hey, has anyone tried x?' and maybe the mechanic would turn up in one of your favourite titles, instead of some game you didnt care about.

Can we be selective and just delete certain parts of a game? Because I liked the background fleshing out of Killzone 3 (stuff like the Helghast Senate, interior architecture, the Visari salute thing....), it's just the atrocious plot needs to be purged from existence.

Here it comes.

Pokemon Black and White.

Why? You know why, if you have been following the franchise since it was first released on the Game Boy. Abridged version: something about this game installment/Gen didn't feel right. Hell, it wasn't even released for the 3DS, which was released a few weeks afterwards. Yes, it introduced a lot of neat features, but frankly, most were in disappointing ways, specifically in the regional PokeDex department. I get that they were trying to do an homage to the first Gen and have 150+ exclusive critters, but it didn't work the way they wanted to. This is only scratching the surface, mind you.

The reason why I didn't go for the entire 5th Gen (Black 2 & White 2), is because those two titles are marginally better, only in the sense that they took out a lot of BS from the first installments and added a lot of content from the previous 4 Gens (older Pokemon, past Gym Leaders and Champions, etc.). Also, they're NOT the first sequels in the handheld franchise; that honor belongs to Gen 2, Gold, Silver, & Crystal (I mean seriously; their original titles in Japan were going to be Pocket Monsters 2).

Thank the powers that be that we got X and Y; If we got another mess like Gen 5, I would've just quit the franchise entirely.

Duke Nukem Forever. I'd prefer the vaporware jokes to the game we ultimately received. Even after I heard negative reviews, I thought maybe people just didn't get the point of something like a Duke Nukem game. But ultimately it was just a bad game with bad jokes and it wasn't even remotely fun to play.

It was more fun to dream.

Vampire Rain, because at least other terrible games like RTH:R and Colonial Marines can be fun to take the piss out of. Vampire Rain just kinda boringly happened.
