Well, his idea was simple but amazing: since we all here really like video games, since we are all here very smart, and since nobody here has things like "What will the public say?!" to stop him from doing so, why won't we try to create our "perfect game" ourselves?

Theoretically, of course, but still. We can do that. All right, so it won't be "perfect"(Video games are a form of entertainment, after all, and the quality of entertainment depends on who sees it), but it will be ours. It will be like the idea of "The game WE would like to play."

Do you understand? Are you with me about it?

This idea is hardly new.

Also we all have different tastes in video games. for example, some people think the Shiva bike in FF13 is cool, while others think it is idiotic. Some of us won't even touch JRPGs in general.

So this idea can't work.

This is what I would want in a game:

Melee weapons of any sorts and bows/crossbows and all that ye olde stuff.

You are on a planet that seems to be peaceful but then the multiple countrys go to war with each other and you have been outcasted by your country for some reason i will think of . You have options to try gain reputaion with one or a few(?) other countrys or try gain acceptance with your country again, you will come across alot of difficult options to do with family n all that(maybe before war starts game kinda gets u attatched to family or attempts to at least to try make these options more difficult) on your journey you will become a great warrior in a skill you have chosen the game will maybe make it easy to change your skill it will have a big map increasing your skills as you go along you can get pets and earn money by helping the towns people at first and so on during the game new weapons will be invented maybe eventually one of the first types of guns.

I would like to see an RPG set in modern times or near future that is either 3rd or 1st person. But what would be different about it would be complete freedom. Imagine what the child would be if Oblivion/Fo3+ Sims + GTA4 would look like. A game that took every game genre and mashed it all into one seamless whole. Play as a normal everyday person(Sims) join the military (military shooter) rise in ranks and become a comander (RTS). Create a business empire (Tycoon). And so on. Also have it online with a virtual economy (EVE) and the ability to creat alliances and such. Of course this game would take decades to creat and require terabytes of HD space, but it would be the one game to bind them, one game to rule them all.

Oh I see what you're trying to do. You should have made this clear from the beginning.

Also this is still a terrible idea. Your idea assumes that every game within those 3 categories is identical. There are a lot of variety among shooter, JRPGs, and RPGs. Gears of War and Half-Life are very different.

My idea is very simple. You play as me, emporer of Birra. After having rendered 2/3 of the world inhospitible to human life in the first game (by the way, I have a plan for a first game), you contol the remaining third, the Birran Empire. From there you have an RTS with some First Person Shooter elements wherin you attempt to either (or both) colonize other planets or attempt to repair the damage caused to the world. Combat and deploying things like research teams and terraforming devices will be controled RTS-style, but infiltrating enemy buildings and such will require you to take command of a single soldier or combat droid. You also have to keep the people on your outlying colonies happy or they might rebel and form their own nation. Multiplayer would be patched in at a later date once I work out the details.
