I'd still choose the Titan over the Evangelion. The whole life-force eating thing is a bit of a downer, and it doesn't look as intimidating. Giant half-biological robots are all well and good, but compared to a walking battle-cathedral with guns everywhere they could fit them, including a nova cannon crotch?Rowan93 said:If I wanted a nukeproof mecha of destruction, I'd have asked for an Evangelion. About a billion times as manouverable, and it can actually be piloted by one individual.Da Orky Man said:You would chhose this:Rowan93 said:I just spent the last several hours looking through tvtropes to see if there was a mention of something that gives you more than three wishes, because I didn't think three wishes was enough.
I suppose I could just say d&d, because one probably exists. There's definitely a ring of unlimited wishes in some sourcebook or other.
Anyway, besides that (wish-granting items in general are kind of a cop-out) there are of course a lot of other tempting choices:
- The Pick Of Destiny (already mentioned in the thread, I don't even know if it has actual powers besides being awesome, but you know that we'll be rocking cause it's fuckin insane.)
- The briefcase from Pulp Fiction - also saw this in the thread and though "Damn. I want that." despite the lack of actual world-changing power.
- An ACU from Supreme Commander. In Supreme Commander, the crazy-fast build times of your typical rts are actually justified in-universe because of the advanced nanotech they have, so this thing is a 20-metre-tall giant robot that also happens to be able to build an army in a couple of hours.

Over this?

Yeah, I went there. The ACU can be taken out by a single nuke, and is therefore not good for taking over the world. Try nuking that thing, and it'll throw them straight back at you.
The point of the ACU is the ability to build things - to get from nothing to a well-defended base with an ICBM silo and hundreds of tanks takes about two hours. That it's a kick-ass giant robot is just a bonus.
None taken, I myself love to criticize everything.I Do agree it is over cluttered. The things on the hips are power packs and rocket booster of some sort.I think the helmet uses some fancy technology Mcguffin that lets the wearer see through the metal plate using cameras & stuff. The suit is made to be light and maneuverable, not going straight into a fight guns blazing(Well, it does that, but in a quick and agile way)It is about 1000X more maneuverable than the average power armor.Rowan93 said:It's a bit overly cluttered, I can see a number of weak points (back of knees, neck, hands, back of head), that aerial is going to be snapped off five minutes into any battle, and the only part of the helmet that has glass visible is the bit covering the wearer's mouth and nose. Plus I'm not sure what that is on the suit's ass (power pack?) but sitting down will be pretty uncomfortable.White-Death said:The power armor from Vanquish.
I'm not too fond of Vanquish,in fact, I think its a pretty bad game, especially the writing.I could have the same combat if I increase mass effect 1s game speed.
But still, I LOVE the artist who designed the armor and weapons for vanquish.

Sorry, but once you said "best ever" a large, evil part of me was compelled to destroy.
It doesn't eat life force. I'm pretty sure you're thinking of Bokurano, which I, and subsequently you, only know about because of tvtropes describing it as "Like Evangelion but even more depressing".Da Orky Man said:I'd still choose the Titan over the Evangelion. I thought at AT field could be brought down by a railgun. Ok, maybe a railgun with the entire power supply of Japan behind it, but still a gun. And in melee, the titan comes with either a powerfist or a chain-wolverine thing. Plus, titan gets void shields.Rowan93 said:It doesn't eat life force. Intimidation factor is... well, for one thing, any sane person should consider it almost a non-factor, writing it at the bottom of his list of "things to think about when choosing/designing a weapon" while waiting for all of the other, more important things to fill that space up. On top of that, anything 60 metres tall has an intimidation factor that's so off the charts the measuring device exploded and the person holding it crapped their pants.
One of the many things that matter more than intimidation value is actual combat value, and the Evangelion has super-strength relative to some hypothetical human that was scaled up to 60 metres tall, as evidenced by their mad jumping skillz and that time Asuka throws a warship at a tank division. So yeah, in melee it can simply humiliate the Warlord.
Outside of melee? It has an impregnable forcefield. Yeah, good luck with that.
Yeah, impregnable never actually means impregnable because of stuff happening. But it can handle nuclear weapons, so it's pretty much impregnable. Plus, an Evangelion is human shaped, so unlike a titan it can actually take cover pretty effectively if things are getting hairy.Da Orky Man said:I thought at AT field could be brought down by a railgun. Well I could just use the Sphere to remove my need for sleep altogether, although I agree that perhaps this isn't as great a choice as I initially thought, although it is still pretty good. Too bad we never find out what happens to Beth after they are lifted to the surface, since she actually kept her powers.Rowan93 said:Maybe not as bad, but you probably don't want it. Oh, and don't think too much about what might happen if you do go to sleep, or otherwise let the sphere get to you. Or about what happens when you think about what'll happen if you go to sleep. Or about... yeah, I think you can get where this is going.
The kind of cover you need against Titan weaponry is, say NORAD. And how long can an Eva last on batteries? If I remember, it's about three minutes.Rowan93 said:Yeah, impregnable never actually means impregnable because of stuff happening. But it can handle nuclear weapons, so it's pretty much impregnable. Yeah, the Warlord has some melee weapons, but it's way slower than the Eva. Hence humiliate - it's not going to get into a brawl and win by giving more punches than it takes, it's going to dance rings around it, jump up into the air, the Warlord will look around and not realise the Eva is on its back, etcetera. It's got crazy amounts of manoeuvrability. By the end, the titan will have its face in the dirt and be trying futilely to right itself, and the Eva will be standing on top of it doing a tap-dance.
I'm more of a stealthy person.I'd rather glide/slide at 200MPH rather than fly and be shot at by every single AA gun, then again, Iron man can throw missiles back.Rowan93 said:Well, I suppose after all that my next objection would be "so why not Iron Man's armour?"White-Death said:None taken, I myself love to criticize everything.I Do agree it is over cluttered. Since, besides anything else, I don't see how you can choose power armour that can fly better than an F22 over power armour that doesn't.
