I know it's a pretty lame question, but I'm curious what cool ideas can be thought up by people not in the business.
I completely agree.Satin6T said:massive multiplayer zombie sandbox game
best game idea ever
Sounds sweet, a good real-time RPG is never a bad idea. Pickin your own weapon advancement is pretty cool too.dragon_of_red said:My game idea would be awesome, if i actually had people who could draw and program, it would be an awesome game.
It would be an RPG, a Third Person In depth Hack and Slash, sortof playing like Kindgom Hearts except with more customization and abilities.
You would play as some 23 year old kid who wants revenge to kill some guy (Havent fleshed out the idea yet) You keep progressing with weapons, whatever ones you want, like spears, swords, shortblades, axes, whatever, just nothing long range.
Bassicaly, the main bad guy is the only boss, but you fight him 5 times with him having completley different attack patterns and moves. Each time you almost defeat him, he runs away.
I would make the story really good and Put a lot of twists and turns into it. And the gameplay to be actually fun and varied.
I wish i could
PM or quote me if you want what i have of the story so far...

Okay! An RPG about a far away world in the midst of peril and it's up to the mute hero to- ....ah...uh...
Oh! You fight demons from Hell armed with simple fire arms or possibly knives or... swords... with capes...and...
Screw it.
How about a new version of 2020 Super Baseball? Yeah, that's my idea.
Let me know when it's done, Sounds interesting.Trivun said:I'm already making a game, to be released for free browser based play on Yoyogames.com. It's using Game Maker, and it's a little puzzle/action game in the style of Pong. 15 timed levels, with multiple balls adding extra difficulty later on. Each level lasts for two minutes and the objective is to amass a highscore. It's not very complicated since it's basically a much improved version of my first game, which was a load of crap. I'm currently working on the level select page, and then the main menu, and after that I'll be done and I'll post it on the internet with a link on this site. Only problem is there's no music since I can't compose anything, but I'll be releasing it as a beta testing version so I can find someone online to play through it and then compose some music for it ready for the final gold release.
That is yet another awesome idea.thiosk said:Sporehammer 40k

combing necron tombworlds for artifacts while purging the heretics on a hive world?

Sounds pretty cool, I'd give it a try.Fwee said:I've got lots of ideas but the latest is an action MMO in which players build their own (don't want to give it all away so I'll just say) avatar, and after customizing the look and operation style of said avatar, offline story mode controls in a way that would be a mix between Prototype and Skate. After playing a chapter of story mode, you can "evaluate" your actions in said chapter, actually going through a replay of the action and recording certain chains of attacks and mapping them as combos or special maneuvers for the online vs. mode.
Online versus features multiple modes, destructible and interactive environments that also carry over the effects of previous battles, and are repaired in real time.
Find a way to make this game! /droolRetroVortex said:If I could make a game in 3d, it would most certainly be 3rd person action adventure.
But it would focus as much on the adventure part, (puzzles, investigation, item gathering), as it would on the action.
I like the idea of alternate realities, so it would be cool if the levels were based on different versions of earth's with different rules and logic. (i.e. one earth's gravity is stronger than ours, so you can't jump very high. It would limit your movement speed, making fighting difficult. You might have to stealth around certain enemies, while trying to find a solution to the jumping problem. You recieve intel from your superiors that there is a experimental battle mech developed by the military. So you have to break in, steal the mech, and then, get to a certain part of the world that wasn't accessible before to complete the objective. But since you have the mech, you can explore the world to find secrets as well, but you'll have to fight a lot though, as you would be a public enemy).
I think that this gimmick would keep the game fresh, as new realities, can have different gameplay elements used, and existing elements applied in different ways.
If I really wanted to be bold though, I would make some levels be more open about their solutions, and depending on how you solve the problem, you get a different branch of the storyline, leading you to new worlds, and possibly even existing worlds you've already been to, that have changed since you left.
I think the story would start simple enough. You would be a low level reality cop or something, and you have a task of hunting down a criminal that has stolen and modified the reality travelling device that is only issued to your force.
Seems a little big of a job for a low level cop, but things like this are common place in your earth, as this very device's invention has had a chaotic impact on your world.
This chaos, was the very reason you have a job, as the world's government officials worked together to outlaw the use of the device and destroy all the devices and copies of the plans that had surfaced in the world. Obviously the damage has already been done, so complete eradication is impossible, and all the goverments can do is try to re-establish control of the situation, and regulate the use of the technology.
The cool thing about all this, is that your guy can have advanced equipment on hand to deal with some situations but not all, (as this world is not super advanced, but is moderatley advanced compared to us).
You'd have a radar that would be able to detect other reality jumpers, some from your organisation, that you can ally with and solve problems, but others could be illegal jumpers that you can catch to make your resume look good, and go towards a promotion, (you'll get access to higher level gear, as you've proved your responsible enough). But the main objective is the one you were set, and is the main focus of the plot.
Another awesome thing about the game is that you would have to be quite carfeul about what you do, as you might have to bend the law, and bend the reality of the worlds you visit in order to catch this guy.
Heck you might even need to fight your own allies near the end, due to them not liking you breaking the rules, (can't blame them as they are only following command from your superiors), and ignoring command, (one of the choices could be that your guy has jumped to a reality that you are not allowed to go to at your rank. You could either follow the rules, and go and do some sidequests until you reach that rank, OR, you can plow straight on ahead. Both ways are arguably viable, as your guy might get away, or have enough time to do something else, while you increase your rank).
Text adventures can be fun sometimes, depending on how they work out in the end.Volafortis said:I make console text adventures in C++, for the laughs.
However, I'd like to make either RPGs or RTSs once my skillz grow to the mad level.
