I feel obligated to mention Morrowind because it's my favorite game ever, but unlike every other game listed here, it did get fully remade by fans. It's exactly as the OP described it: a full remake with modern graphics.

While it isn't my mod-pack of choice, it does show how much the game has been brought up to date.

It's been a while since he updated it, but I think a new update is around the corner.

Edit: I should add it's not 100% vanilla, because a few of the mods try to make certain weaker parts of the game a little more epic. The mod that changes the character creation section is pretty crazy, because you can use it to start as a vampire if you wish. Personally, I like the vanilla experience, but it's pretty sweet seeing what the mod community can do. I'm also waiting for OpenMW to come to completion, because as it is now, it's looking great.

It's a project to rebuild the Morrowind engine. It's come a long way in the last year.

Honestly it wasn't really all that pretty when it came out either. Still love it, one of my favorites but I was never really impressed with the graphics.

OT: I'd like to see Duke Nukem 3D remade on a modern engine. Don't fuck with the mechanics, just make it pretty and I'll give you $30-40 for it.

There are so many I want. Megaman Legends 1 and 2 (and getting a 3rd one would be pretty nice too), Dark Cloud 1 and 2 (once again, getting a 3rd one of these would be nice), also, Rogue Galaxy. OH, and maybe the original Metal Gear games, and Metal Gear Solid. Persona 4 for the PS3 (not the Vita) would be nice since I'll probably never get a Vita unless I start seeing a price drop on those stupid memory cards for it. Also, like a few others have said, Battlefront 2.

X-COM Apocalypse

I know that Enemy Unknown is on the way, but there is something charming about the kind of campy sci-fi models they made for X-COM 3 (similar to some of the charming models for the techs in Master of Orion 2).

I'd love to see it done in 3D, to fix that blasted camera angle if nothing else.
