Gensōkyō. Definitely Gensōkyō.

Human flesh eating Youkai, here I come!

Wait...

Still, there's the Moriya Shrine, so it's not too bad.

The Myst-verse, Star Wars-verse, Star Trek-verse, World of Darkness or Faerûn (Forgotten Realms). All of these choices, of course, hinge on my being able to be relatively cool though. If I have to be a generic lame NPC human, I'd have to pick the alternate future of Mass Effect... even generic lame NPC humans seem to have it pretty good if they aren't on outlying colony worlds.

Definitely Pokemon. That way, I don't need to eat and can assumingly survive on my own with a buddy and some Pokemon!

Now see, you all assume you would be one of the heroes and not the NPC's :D
This is the problem with asking "what world would you live in"? No one ever realizes that there can only be a few stalwart heroes of the land. Besides, most of you would be the first people to die in the event of whatever apocalyptic event was coming. Either that or the NPC that gets shot down or run over because he won't get out of the fucking way, or the stalwart hero decides to be a dick.

That said, if I could be in any video game world and I was guaranteed a fairly decent amount of power and intelligence, I'm going to say that I keep leaning toward the Elder Scrolls.

Or, and it counts because there were games made that take place there, Amestris. I would love to be able to clap my hands and change anything to anything else. And I'd give up my right arm and left leg to do it, provided I get some automail pretty soon. From Fullmetal Alchemist, by the way.
Even dying in most fictional worlds is pretty awesome. None of this anticlimactic shit like in real life. You always have some epic backstory and somehow have connections to some seedy element and go out in a blaze of fury. Also, theres some stupid tenancy in fiction to get laid by the hottest girl in the story before you die. Sign me up already sounds better than my day to day life.

to Pandora from avatar. Thats one of the most beautifull imaginary worlds I've ever seen. Or maybe even from the avatar the last airbender(tv show, not the movie), assuming i can be a bender of some kind

The town of Balamb from FFVIII. It's a sleepy little town on the beach with Italian architecture and a really nice guiatr song in the background. That and it hasn't been conquered by Galbadia. What else can you ask for?

I like how Freelancer universe made it onto the first page. I thought about saying that - but there are a lot of RPG universes that have a lot of appeal. Personally, the universe of Final Fantasy IX - the world on the edge of an industrial revolution, while still holding on to magic - seems pretty cool to me.

Oh god so many.
Pokemon, Final Fantasy IX, Soul Eater (I know it is a Manga/Anime but it HAS had games made for it in Japan.) Those are the main ones.

Cyrodil, for sure. Can he make me an Argonian, too? I've always wanted to breathe underwater. In fact, knowing how to swim in general would be nice, let alone being racially superior at it. Plus, I'd be a fucking lizard. That by itself makes the transformation worth it.

Mobius, no question.

I would love to be anthropomorphic rather than a human. It's just better.

Mass Effect. No contest.

I'd be some engineer working on the Normandy. Because that would be awesome.

You're not guaranteed to be the stalwart hero of the land, or even anyone great In fact, you're probably going to be some regular ol' joe, just like you are here. You would probably be leading a simiar boring life if you were somehow just transported to a different world.

Understand what I'm saying?
Yea I perfectly understand your not that impressive concept. It's called deconstruction and although some people think it's interesting, its biggest flaw is people who are fans of deconstruction go too far and are just as unrealistic as that which they are deconstructing. You honestly believe it wouldn't be interesting to live in the Psychonauts universe?! The least interesting characters in psychonauts is still cooler than anyone I've ever met.

My point was living in a world of fiction even the "normal" people are incredibly interesting. You realize there are no real heros irl. People the media trys to make good or bad, but almost never are there individual people who radically change the course of history by themselves.

That happens every goddamn day in fiction. Even if I'm not a hero, being a martyr, degenerate soul or even just an onlooker in a fictional world would be entertaining as fuck.

I'd probably go to the El Nido Archipelago from Chrono Cross for a few reasons: It's very scenic and very, very pretty, it's got a rich, detailed history and mythology, and I already know the whole damn map by heart.
