If you had to name your son after a video game character, who would you choose and why?

Celes from FF6 is my favourite character from my favourite game... somehow I feel as though that name would be appropriate for a daughter.
For a son, Kane, as in Command and Conquer's Kane. C&C was one of the first games I couldn't stop playing - I loved it even more than Dune II!

I'd name them after one of the more normal one's, if only because I refuse to saddle my kid with a name just because I happen to like a pile of pixels that has the same name.
...Then again, I'm the guy whom's namelist for his firstborn son includes the names of his favourite musician and the names of all 3 main male protagonists from The Wheel of Time.

I don't think I'd do it myself but I think Zevran would be pretty fun name to live with.
In a similar vein I would totally name my daughter Leliana though.
I think there's a more subtle way of doing this, have kids with "normal" names that have a little easter egg style bonus for gamer fans, e.g. have two sons called Sam and Max or Andrew and Ryan.

After that they most likely ruin all your stuff, drain away all your free time and whine all the god damn time.
Not to long after that they become ungrateful little shits and leech away all your disposable income.
Once they're grown they wait for you to die so they can collect the inheritance.
So, kids do a lot to deserve it.
Giving a kid a name that will get them ridiculed and beat up their entire life is a parents' only recourse.

If I had a boy I'd name him JaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAaaaaames Sunderland. That would be his first name and you'd have to say it like that.
A girl, Keira or Tali. No real gag or revenge mentality there, I just like those names.

Pretty much all the main characters in Golden Sun have normal names that you could get away with naming a child after. Now that I think about it, my name is Matthew, since Issac named his son Matthew, I could be doing something wrong by going against the natural order, maybe I should not risk it. >.>Malty Milk Whistle said:

As far as reasons for having kids go, that one is pretty common. Sure, most of the time its veiled behind the want to "love and care" for something, but theres a reason why people tend to get kids when they are middle-aged, and life starts to lack substance otherwise.Lilani said:

I REALLY don't like people giving their kids silly names, that's messed up to me. Like that poor kid that is called "Facebook", not to mention "Hashtag"... HASHTAG! Even Aragorn seems kinda cruel, and that has become a pretty popular name... Kids can be really evil about such things, I imagine rough school years... I mean shit, my name is extremely mundane compared to those but I STILL got shit for it!
I suspect naming traditions are quite diferent in my country from what they are in the US, so they might seem a bit strange... For my dauther I really like Heather or Revy, but a friend said that those are guy names (which is not true where I come from!). I'm not sure those are in games though...
Adam is in a game, Deus Ex: HR! I like that name for a boy, maybe I'd call him Adam.
Also, so that I hopefully don't end up in jail, I do in NO way condone violence and I have no intentions of ever acting upon the previous statement. It was only said as a feeble atempt at dark humor, something I am fully aware that I do extremely poorly as I am at heart a warm and fuzzy person that doesn't draw much enjoyment from Transformers because it is, and I quote, "too violent".
