If you had to play a game forever...

Does not compute.
Can we play no more than one game, or do we have to play one game 24/7? A choose your own private hell kinda question?

If 24/7, can we turn off the sound/music? If not, the music becomes the most important thing.

MMOs sound less lonely, but the other players will eventually all leave, and there's bad music to consider.
Civ4 has the most replay value of any game, but also has awful music.
Fallout3 has the best music I've ever heared in a game, so I'd be forced to pick an above average game over better games.

If I can make a request, I'd like SO MUCH [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tetris_Attack] (that's actually me playing it)

More realistically it'd have to be an online game that changes often enough to keep me interested, so despite that I don't like it I'd have to say World of Warcraft

Um... how about this: You are in some other plane of existence, an eternity of darkness. You have no physical needs, and sustain yourself through the enjoyment you derive from games. You are allowed one game to play (possibly) for eternity. Internet connection and sound on/off are allowed.

It would have to be a mmorpg, the size of most of them plus the ever present chance of new content makes it the clear choice. Specifically though, Probably Guild Wars or WoW. I'm not even really a fan of WoW, I just know that there's such an epic amount of crap to do. :p

My preference is for Dungeons and Dragons 3.5 but with the Pathfinder rules (affectionately called 3.75).
Nuts. Ninja'd. I'd make sure I've got a few interested players and just go to town with D&D until I die. The only game where it's NEVER the same thing twice.

DnD has the most replay value of any game ever, only because the DM can make up whatever the hell he wants. That's what makes it great!

Counter Strike: Source or Team Fortress 2

If I chose from single player games then it would be Fallout 3.

My choice would currently be for either Geometry Wars or Rune Factory. Both are heavily addictive for me and have a lot to do in game.

A sensible answer would be a game like WoW which seems be going on forever and ever and ever!

But if say you were some cruel bastard who would lock people up in a room with only one game to play for the rest of their life, I'd say give me chess. Not the Mac version as it didn't have a difficulty slider.

Geometry Wars? Hoo boy, that game and me have issues...fun issues though.

As for a game that I'd play till the end of time itself? Phantasy Star Online Episode I and II, OFFLINE. (After all, Sega shut the server down, not even the greatest forces beyond our universe could change that.)

Let's see, rares to find, characters to max, classes to try, rare monsters to destroy...yeah, I'd have my hands full for about...a couple years.

World of Warcraft.
Because there will ALWAYS be something new.
And it takes a forever or two in order to get things done.

...Ok, that's stretch still.

Counter-Strike: Source, mainly because of the endless modding.

Ocarina of Time. I'm serious, I could play the fishing minigame for all eternity.
And still never find that DAMN SINKING LURE
The sinking lure was the easy part, but it's been over 10 years and I still haven't caught the Hylian Loach...
I think the day I catch it is the day the world ends.

Well in that case it would be a tough choice between:
1. play intelligent games of Civ4 BTS alone, or
2. receive updates and play with other people/idiots in a MMO like WoW, until Blizzard eventually abandons WoW for WoS and have some private server all by yourself.

Hmmm. Civ4 BTS then.

I'd say either an MMO of the RPG or RTS variety, or something along the lines of The Sims if MMOs aren't options
