Luke Skywalker because for some reason he seems to be invincible and somehow figures out how to save everyone. Maybe with a gag so I don't have to put up with his angst.
Guts from the Berserk games simply because he's Guts and pretty much lives to put the smackdown on the God Hand, and saving things is something he does.
Superman because, although I dislike him for being too goody goody, he is Superman and as such will save the world and be sickeningly goody goody about it.

Thankfully Guts has enough gritty dark and somewhat ironic/sarcastic sense of humor and attitude so that I won't hurl at the sight of the super epic goody goody-ness that will come with Luke and Superman.

Points for the others, for sure, but Mr. Hale is all you need. I mean, a man that can convince people to pay $8 for a hat in Team Fortress 2 is either the most sinisterly evil bastard imaginable or the most brilliant man in the universe. Either way, you'd be hard pressed to defeat him.

Coincidentally, my list is very similar. In fact, it's identical save for "the Duke". I'd replace him with either Alex Mercer or Batman (Arkham Asylum).

The former is practically a god in human form. Hell, he was literally nuked and just regrew himself.

The latter...well, it's Batman. What more needs explaining?

Garrus Vakarian, he'll be best at leading an assault, plus he's good with a Sniper so anyone attacking from a distance is equally screwed.

Isaac Clark, having used tools and weapons he built out of tools he'd keep my team supplied and seeing how he took on the kind of monsters that killed trained Marines and lived to tell the tale (even if he went crazy afterwards) he's definitely a good ally.

Medic, if somehow Garrus and Isaac are hurt or lacking in firepower Medic is here to heal us, ubercharge us and he's good back up on the battlefield.

I'm not sure how I'd help apart from deciding the team in the first place. >.>

Upon further reflection, I have come to realize that my third choice is neither Alex Mercer nor Batman but is, in fact, another Valve character.

If I had to face the apocalypse, I'd want Dog by my side. You can't go wrong with a nine foot tall, super-powerful robot that literally has the demeanor and over-protective nature of a young puppy. (and can pick up and toss Combine APC's like they were made of cotton, and take down a strider by hand)

Hmm, well I'm going to have to concur with some people:

1. Gordon Freeman (Half Life): What can I say, not everyone is cut out to be him. He's a physics crunching badass; he's the complete package. (A cookie for that reference.)
2. Duke Nukem (Duke Nukem (duh)): Provides enough testosterone for the whole pack. Always bet on Duke.
3. Kurt Hectic (MDK): Sure he's just a janitor, but he's got a pretty cool suit and is a decent sniper. Besides, he's already saved the world twice, even if he really didn't want to.

I really wanted to be equal opportunity and have a female on the team but I figured putting a woman on any team with Duke is just asking for trouble. So I'll just come up with a ladies team. Here's my 'Charlie's Angels' version:

1. Elizabeth (Bioshock Infinite): Maybe this is cheating since the game won't be out till next year, but the woman can melt pots and pans into a molten ball of iron, with her mind!
2. Chell (Portal): This is an odd choice but every team needs a specialist. Other than the portals being handy, I figure she must have been pretty damn smart to get through Aperture. That and she can fall from any height, at any angle and land on her feet, unharmed. If the threat happen to be a murderous AI, she's got you covered.
3. Sarah Kerrigan (Starcraft): You don't get to be Queen ***** of the Universe for nothing. Hell, even before that, woe betide anybody who pisses her off.
