If you ignored the hype...did Fable 2 disappoint?

I missed the hype, so it didn't really affect my enjoyment. I quite liked the game, and I am a bit ashamed to admit that adding a dog to a game will instantly notch up how much I like any game. Decent gameplay, wasn't overwhelmed by the story, but it was fun.

I played Fable 2 first, then bought Fable with the boring additional quests.

I found Fable 2 to be a better game. I just enjoyed it completely.

However, I thought it was short and one of the easiest games I've ever played.

Nevertheless, given that I played it just before exam season and my girlfriend was heavily pregnant... it was a game we could enjoy together.

As for 'hype'... well, I only read reviews of Fable 2. Not one of them really compared it to the original. I look forward to Fable 3. Sometimes, it is nice to play a game which doesn't make you want to throw the controller at the TV. And sometimes, it's nice not to have to talk to every single person just to gain every piece of valuable information.

Given that I have a job, a fiancee to entertain, a baby to look after and I'm doing a Masters degree, sometimes it is REALLY nice to play a game that doesn't want to kill your joy for life. *glares at Seth from SF4*

Yeah kind of. It was a good game, but I was expecting more from it. And it didn't really improve on a whole lot.

I, too a degree, got into the hype, and i HATED the game. Although that seems more from personal opinion and less the game.

Well I have to deal with the hype to this day because of my friends that won't shut up about it so I tried Fable 1 first and found it so "Meh" that I didn't bother with the second which I would probably find "Meh but with more stuff chucked in".

I enjoyed Fable, one of my most played xbox games, so I was looking forward to Fable II. Ignoring Molyneux I found FII enjoyable, not as good as the original but enough to warrant my money.

Looking forawrd to Fable 3, which I think is being released Octoberish. Good times :)
I really hope it doesn't get pushed back...Then again, we haven't heard any details.

On my first playthrough as an lolallskillsmaxed type character, I was fine, especially sine I mainly used melee. When I tried going mainly magic or skill, however, it was annoying.

It was definitely less fun than Fable, and it felt like there was no real point to doing anything, no real challenge either. It was hard to get killed, and when you did, there's no penalty for it anyway.

Why is there so much hate against the end of game sequence? Since when does every game have to have a fuck-off mental boss fight at the end that you have to practically punish yourself fighting, over and over, until you get the final bit of story and the end-game credits?

quite a few games are now taking the path of providing a memorable and awesome final level, that actually wants the player to finish, which I think is only fair; the old 'final boss=deadly hard' tradition has been the same since the 80s.

I agree that the overall game was not much of a challenge. very easy, yes; fun to play, hell yes!

This. I think Fable 2 might be the first game in which I never even came close to dying.

I looked at videos and such, and was excited for it. When I rented it, I still had fun with the combat, and I enjoyed the story and customization of your character. But I didn't like how they didn't have armor anymore, and no more bows (and that silly "jobs for money" concept). :[

I say Fable 1 was better, but I still enjoyed Fable 2 for what it was. The ending made me laugh, [[{MINOR SPOILER}]] but I was still kind of disappointed that I wasn't able to kill the main bad dude.

I did buy into the hype, and it didn't live up to it. However, I still liked it, and realize that expectations aside it was a really good game. Not the same replay value I'd expect from an RPG though.

yes. i ignored the hype for the most part and really didn't care for the game. i felt like i was being led around by the nose for the most part and hated the fact that i couldn't die. i liked the first one a lot more.

I completely beat the game 5 times.

I love the game to death but im a bit of a lionhead fanboy. I still enjoy BW2 ;D

It is a fun, charming world and if you take it for what it is you get a fullfilling, even if short, experience. Hell i beat the game, got all legendaries, all skills, all buildings ect on multiple play throughs yet every character felt oddly unique and each experience the same yet not the same.

Sound wierd but yea... like so much of molynuex's stuff he loves what he does, he gets excited about it and sadly over-hypes his promises and well i have a hard time faulting a developer for dreaming big and doing his best to reach it.
