Oh... and... that kind of thing is physically impossible.

For the orbital laser to fire at targets on the planet's surface from orbit...
it'd have to have an impossibly large power supply. And the laser itself would have to be more potent than the world's entire nuclear arsenal JUST to get through the atmosphere.
