Okay, the title probably sounded better in my head. Let me explain.

Lately I've been thinking a lot about what distinguishes you from other people. May it be the music you listen to, the food you like or your personality. The things that, when combined, makes "ME". That is how I got the idea for this post.

What kind of gamer are you? What distinguishes you from other gamers?

Stuff like the different gaming genres you're in to, how you behave online, stratergies you prefer?

Don't be shy, tell us what kind of gamer YOU are.

I myself is known to be an undesicive prick, jumping from genre to genre, switching stratergies mid-game and I never seem to finish games, since something "better" catches my eye half-way through.

I play games that are fun. If they are not fun, I try not to play them. If I've foolishly put money on a not-fun game, I will force myself to play through it, fueled by bile and hatred for the title, the publisher and whoever the bastard who recommended it to me was. Then I will fire it into the sun.

I'm an FPS noob. If it has a first-person view and weapons, I'm down, if its a shooter, I may like it, but thrid person tends to piss me off, which is why GTA 4 sucks compared to Fallout 3 IMO. In Fallout 3 you can easily adjust and toggle third and first person views on/off in real-time. In GTA 4, there isn't even an potion for it.

The music you listen to, the food you like? At least you didn't say "your sofa units or your Strinne green stripe patterns" or I would've had to hit you on the ear.

Anyway, for what it's worth, as a gamer at least I go for games that are as open-ended as possible. None of the phony-sandbox shit like the Fable games. I'm talking real "affect the world any way you damn well please and to hell with what the world wants out of you" games. Ascaron, Paradox, pre-EA buyout Maxis. Games that are more like toys.

I am a comical sniper.

I like having fun in games and usually don't really care about if I win or lose, cause in order for some one to archive victory then some one else must accept defeat. Plus I also like seeing my friends win every now and again.

But I can be serious when the times call for it. Mostly I don't like sticking my head out and I am always following some one with in front. I really good support in any situation and am willing to "take one for the team" when I have to. But most of the time you can find me hanging back and picking people off. I do however indulge every now and again and go charging in guns blazing, they never see it coming from a sniper :p

I like RPGs the most probably, and most of the sub-genres it includes. Some of my favourite games would include: Mass Effect, Fallout 3, Oblivion, Morrowind, Too Human, Diablo 2, etc. I also LOVE retro games (mainly RTS and FPS), such as: Homeworld, Starcraft, Age of Empires, Stars Wars Force Commander, Unreal Tournament, Quake 3: Arena, Quake 1, etc.
I also like shooters that have knives as a stand-alone attack, like the Call of Duty games, because I just love running up to the people and stabbing them. I almost never shoot people, just stab, there really isn't any point shooting in the easy difficulties anyway.

I generally stick to FPS... I'm not too good a shot, and in a class-based shooter, I always end up as a medic. Case in point: I played Assault in Battlefield 2142, with an emphasis on the Medic aspect, and I play as Medic in Team Fortress 2.

I usually just stop and sell them.

Actually, he'd hit you in the ear, and you'd hit him in the stomach. Regardless, you're my fucking hero for that.

On topic, I enjoy stuff that's fun and involving. Hence, I'm not a big fan of turn based games unless there's a bit of strategy involved like CivRev, Battle for Wesnoth and the Penny Arcade games, which while not really strategic, make up for it in art style and raw hilarity. Mainly, I prefer games that involve me, a big gun, and shit going boom, pew pew, ker-plaw, etc. I'm a big fan of gunfights and explosions, though I have nothing against it being first person, third person, whether I'm a space marine or Vault Dweller, guy in a orange suit with glasses, or a faceless, voiceless dude with hands that shoot fire, ice and bees. My gaming experiences will be opening up more after I get my computer.

I always worry that I'm not playing the game the "right" way so I constantly check walkthroughs and save lots even when I don't need too.

I love to listen to music durring any game session, weather it be online or not. I have a weird postion for my headphones keeping one section of my headphone off (and replace it with the headset if it's Xbox Live). I also delight in FPS's and anything Co-op.

What joke? I don't see any joke. I don't know what you're talking about.

Whenever I play online I never talk, unless I'm gloating about a crazy kill. I also tend to change strategies all of a sudden.

It's cliche, but I'm the "hardcore" gamer. I've got probably close to US$15,000 wrapped up in video games, consoles, etc. I've got games across pretty much every genre for all my systems, of which there are 19, including handhelds.

I am the game addict; I've not gone more than 48 hours since I was 3 without some sort of video game playtime.

I am doomed. God help me next console generation.

I dunno, I fancy myself a casual gamer, but a few people consider me a borderline hardcore gamer.

So, I'll go with that. I play games for the fun of it, but secrets, unlockables and achievements seem to get me to play a game more often than I should.
