IGN Pulls Cricket Zombie Prank

I think the most concise way to put it is this.

It's kinda like the NFL. It's American Football, which is great for america, and canada, but the rest of the world is kinda meh. In america you grew up with it, so its great, in Australia, we grew up with cricket so we think its great, just one of the many little differences in culture that tend to slip by from time to time.

Now IGN is making up their own news...is it just me or has Fargo leaving Gamespy just screwed up that entire business?
Now a cricket bat would be cool, granted it could fit in. Is cricket popular in the south? Polo, yes, and a polo mallet would be cool, especially if you could whack a zombie head at another zombie, taking off its head with that move.
When hearing mention of the Ashes, I'm reminded of Life, The Universe, and Everything, and Arthur's bumbling not-quest to save the universe from the inhabitants of the planet Krikkit.

Hopefully they will include throwable records in the game too.

Compact discs, they are tougher and should be able to remove zombie limbs with ease, with a bit of sharpening. And if they threw in an actual song, especially one by Queen in one of the climaxes, that would be an adrenaline rush times 100! I wouldn't want the zombie rush to end. "'Get on the !', and I'd say: 'Not til the song's over!'"

I had never even really heard of the "Ashes" before now, and honestly the only "Ashes" that make sense here is to have Ash Williams make a guest appearance for some Zombie busting, but he uses a proper chainsaw and shotgun rather than a Cricket Bat.

Hey, who knows.. maybe there will be some Kendo Tournament in Japan and we'll get Kendo themed zombies... and that would actually be cool, especially if you could wear the Kendo armor since it would be bloody hard for zombies to bite through. >

Okay, enough rambling.

Its okay only just over a billion people bother with cricket, and hell, that's only a 6th of the worlds population, and that only just over say 10x the number of people who watch the superbowl.

The truth is, whilst Left 4 Dead and the Ashes are both popular, how many L4D fans care about the ashes? Also, would it be worth IGN doing it, based on the amount of people that would get the reference?

Ummm I think it was the part of IGN based in the UK. So I think maybe their fan base might care. Possibly?

So Cricket isn't popular worldwide, it was announced last month that the Americans are fielding a national team. Also rather shamefully we were horribly beaten by the Dutch! Cricket is one of the greatest sports in history!

Perhaps Im biased as I used to play it and watch it religiously....

In the sense I spend the entire period of the ashes on my knees praying, which gives me a few funny looks at work!

But zombies+cricket is the worlds best combination!

Comparing Cricket to baseball probably isn't an unfair comparison overall. Curling might be a bit closer, but that's hard to say.

I know you have already been corrected slightly, but from living in AUstralia, I can say that Baseball and Cricket are actually really similar. Both are very popular in some countries and unknown in others.

For example, in Australia I have never seen anyone play baseball competitively or even kids playing it except in school run activities while cricket is rather a big deal here. I suspect it is the same except vice versa in America.

What I want to know is why the zombie is Australian and getting hit when in reality the Brits are the ones usually getting hammered. Aussie Aussie Aussie!

Give us the country with perfect beaches? Send the pretty girls to create a country eventually filled with the better ladies? Let us thrash you in cricket, your own game? We may be the colony, england, but you might just be our bit- best friend. I'm overjoyed to see the rivallry spill over into video games, although you can never be too usre if the poms are taking it seriously... Australia has a tendency to take the piss out of everything based on the fact that everything, ourselves especially, needs the piss taken out of it in friendly fashion. It's led to more than one misunderstanding over the years.

Still cricket bat weapons can only four kinds of awesome, anyone who has held one of these knows just how much damage they can do.

As an Australian (and a cricket player) and a Gamer (and a L4D and possibly L4D2 fan), I can say both that:
*I am excited for the Ashes
*This picture is false because we know that the poms couldn't hit anything smaller than a Beach ball...
