Hey guys, just need a little advice. I'm a singer, I have been all my life. I've had lessons and I've been told by my teacher I should go for it.
I'd love to have a career in singing, but I literally have no idea where to start or what to do if it does become my career.
Any help would be appreciated. :)

See if there are any music schools in your neighbourhood / country where you can go and audition for to see if they'll accept you into their programme.
These schools can offer great education and help put you in touch with the right people to help further your career.
In addition, I'd suggest checking out bands that are in need of (lead) singers and audition.

Basically: Get out there and get an education in music if possible! :)

About your question what to do when you get there....
I've considered a career in music as well. In fact, I auditioned for two esteemed music schools in my country. I got rejected at one (only less than 1% out of all applicants made it in at the time...). I still had an audition at the other one, but decided to go to a university and check out a degree in English instead.
Why?
I realised that even with a special degree, most singers have to resort to teaching to earn their daily bread which wasn't something that I was interested in. I decided to peruse music as a hobby and now, 6 years later, I'm very happy I made that choice.

But of course that's just my story and it doesn't have to be that way for you. So, if you're motivated and excited about it, go for it! Just know that you need to be very, very prepared to work for it.

Thanks for the reply. :)
It's become my life, so I'm as prepared as I'll ever be to work for it.
I'd love to be in a band. There are a few colleges in my area that have courses, so It's good to hear they try to get you in touch. Maybe that's what I'll do.
How would I find bands though?

Go to shows, meet members, sometimes they put out ads. Put out an ad yourself. Local musicians usually get to be in their own social circle, and genres tend to overlap, so you'll have to work to get to know people who are in the scene. Also, why not start a band if you go to university? There are plenty of willing to join a band to show off their talent. The internet is your friend. And also, be open to new style of singing. If you don't sing to fit the genre and don't want to, it can be harder to get a hook up.

You can always look online and search for bands that are hiring. In addition, as soon as you start a college, you'll soon form your first band :) It's easier then, as you'll met plenty of people with the same passion as you!

Go for it and good luck!
