I'm afraid to play Skate 3.

I downloaded the Skate demo when it came out, and I have to say I was exited about the new control scheme. Finally, something in a game that required some degree of skill or practice to be really good at. I loved the demo, but didn't get around to playing the actual game until Skate 2. At first, I loved the game and felt a little tinge of nostalgia for the Tony Hawk games. At first. It didn't take long for the unforgiving controls and the obnoxious skater lingo to wear away at my patience. It soon became the most infuriating thing I had come across in a long, long time.

So, you can understand if I'm a little weary of Skate 3. Should I give it the benefit of a doubt, and hope they have fixed what was wrong with Skate 2, or should I save myself from a few grey hairs?

From what I've heard, it's basically the same game as the first two, except in a different area.

If you didn't like Skate 2, you won't enjoy Skate 3.

The main problem with Skate 3 is that it didn't change enough from Skate 2. Its basically Skate 2.5, hell its only released a year after Skate 2. The fixed a lot of things, and give you a whole new world, and some new tricks/features, but that's about it. I bought the first two and loved them, the jump from Skate 1 to 2 was huge, but I will be sitting this one out. I have played the demo and read the reviews and it just doesn't look like its worth buying at full price right now. I will prob buy it if I am bored and its dropped to 30 bucks but that's it for now.

I really enjoyed Skate, but never bothered with the second one. The game itself is good, but not really my thing, and the skate lingo pisses me off (I went to uni in Santa Cruz, go figure). Anyway, if you don7t like the fundamentals (controls) of the game you won't like them in 3. Simple as that.

But Tony Hawk did take a lot of skill, oddly enough (though a totally different type of skill than Skate). My buddy sucked at that game but I was actually quite good (having played damn near every other one released)

I hate those skating games. I enjoyed THPS2 for some reason, but probably only because of the soundtrack.

I find the games tedious and repetitive.

So basically I have nothing of substance to contribute!

Um, don't play it!

There's an "easy" mode in Skate 3, which basically makes you jump higher, gives you more suction to rails, makes it harder to bail, stuff like that. Probably something to consider if Skate 2 infuriated you.

I guess what I didn't like about the second one was some of the missions. Alot of them, like most of the downhill races, were pretty fun. But later in the game, they would give you one like "grind these 20 rails in 30 seconds", where all of the rails are in a confined space and if you miss one you have to pretty much start over, or if you accidentally bump into anything you get turned around and loose your speed. And then you have to start over.

At least try the demo, you can free skate all you want as long as you don't mind restarting every 20 minutes. It's fun as hell.
