Hello again my escapist friends. This topic is in relation to these two topics:

my orignal asking for help on the windows 7 RC: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.124390

Another asking for help on the installation with a faulty disc drive: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.124640

Well, let me first tell you that I am now speaking to you through my new mozilla firefox on WINDOWS 7!

It took me ages, and for those who read the second topic-It turned out the program i was using to burn the ISO did not verify it, so it could not boot from the disc created. I tried burning the ISO through another program which can veryify a disc, but that burned the actual file not the image and files inside. In the end, I had to mount the ISO with magicDisc, then use the other program i have to extract the files from MagicDisc's virtual drive, then burn those and validate. I then ran the installer INSIDE windows, and after the first step completed (which it hadn't done before due to non-verification), it rebooted my computer from the disc and installed 7 on my the partition i had set up for it.

Unfortunately, since last night when it finished and today after my extended school day, i have only had a couple of hours to play around with it. But i can tell you this: It is awesome!!
Faster than vista, more stylish than vista, just generally better.

However, due to the fact that it is an RC there are some settings disabled (like a resolution higher than 1024 by 762) and some that don't work properly yet (like screensavers). But i'll tell you, it's this good WITHOUT those features, it will be AWESOME whe nit is finished.

I will update this topic when i discover some of the newer features, and give details onto the coolest new things like the Superbar and the Jump lists etc.

Speak soon, I'm off to mess with 7!

Good luck with it. I preordered Windows 7 (an upgrade to Home Premium Edition) and I'm glad I did. I've only heard positive reviews of it. $65 well spent!

I'm running the RC too, I just didn't feel the need to announce it to everyone =/
If people want to look at Windows 7 features, they'll either read one of the several hundred previews/reviews/feature lists available online or in magazines, or they'll get the RC themselves.

The monitor currently on my left is using a resolution higher than 1024 x 762, and my screensaver works fine so...

Yeh i sorte that. I forgot that installing a new operating system on a completely blank hard drive partition would mean my nvidea drivers weren't there. I downloaded the windows 7 drivers for my card, and al lthe aero and resolution and screen saver features work fine now.

And wow, is 7 fast!
