The vast majority of people here will probably recommend building your own. I will too.

Oh, and what's your budget?

My recommendation would probably be the Asus G73 laptop. It may not end up being as powerful as something you build yourself, but I've found it to be able to run most modern games at maximum or near-maximum settings quite well. Besides, it's a laptop (and therefore portable). I've been using it for the last several months and have been quite liking it. In terms of budget, I don't remember the exact price I got, but it was somewhere around $1,000 USD.

Building your own will grant you the most flexibility in terms of cost/power, but I'd highly recommend this laptop if you don't want to put in the effort.

You need a decent budget to play anything. I spent £350 on a laptop, I can run WoW, Counter Strike Source, L4D2 etc all pretty well (FYI)

Be wary of DELL, I would advise that if you consider buying a DELL pc, get an alienware one.
Otherwise, ask someone you know that is good w/computers to build your own.

build one yourself. Its easy so long as you thoroughly research the components. Providing you buy compatible components, its just a case of slotting everything together. kinda like lego.

And you will get a much better value for money.
