Granblue Fantasy is pretty good for that. The storymode stuff doesn't take AP so you can play it forever and it's been going for something like 6-7 years now so you have a lot to go through. It's a ff-feeling Jrpg with lots of gorgeous artwork. Also they just had a beta for a fighting game based on the franchise which was excellent too so you may wanna look into that once you're better.

I don't play a lot of phone games, but peggle is pretty fun in short bursts.

There's quite a few great digital board games available from the more simple games like Splendor, Pandemic, and Ticket to Ride to heavier stuff like Sentinels of the Multiverse and Through the Ages. Lords of Waterdeep is a great DnD themed intro to worker placement games. There's a ton of classics like Small World, Tigris and Euphrates, Carcassonne, etc. Almost all the real board games on the Play Store cost money but you can find the APKs on the Internet and try them out without having to pay anything. Board games are in such a better place right now than video games it ain't even funny so the game mechanics are so much more thought out and the balance is spot-on too while board games inherently led themselves to the touch screen interface.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
I tend to mostly play Tropicats and AFK arena. The kingdom rush games are great if you like tower defense games. Theres also Gems of War if you like puzzle quest and Realm Defense if you want a more free version of Kingdom Rush, but also with a more fair difficulty curve.

Yahtzee With Buddies is good, quick and easy fun. I get bored with mobile games easily and delete them after a week or two or once it?s made apparent they just want you to pay real money to get anywhere, but YWB lets you play the core, traditional game as much as you want against as many opponents as you want as well as having a few fun variants and hourly tournaments.

got a couple that have served as alright time wasters so far;

Beach buggy racing 2: like a Mario kart I spose

Trials frontier: it uses a frustrating f2p mechanic which they call "fuel" but is more accurately "stop playing the fcking game and fcking pay us, you freeloading tosser." still, the game part is ok. I 'spose

Shadowrun: costs money. unless it don't

Space Marshalls 2: crap name, why are phone titles always this terrible with names? a stealthy shooty fix if those are needs that need appeasing

Fluid sim: ummmmm...just gonna let that one linger unexplained for the trusty imagination. it's not a game though, more a brief visual distraction

Space rangers legacy: nothing to do with the other one, but it's free and sposedly good I spose, only played a tiny bit and didn't seem that cancerous

Fallout shelter: probably doesn't need saying, but it's there anyway

Can't go wrong with Adult Swim's free stuff. I think Robot Unicorn Attack is a buck still, but the other two are free. Can't see if Major Mayhem is free or a buck, but I had fun with that one a long time back. I had some other games in mind, but they were paid games, or I thought they went free but actually didn't. Hope you feel better!

EDIT: I also hear Fire Emblem Heroes is pretty good.

Buy a switch.

Seriously though, Iv'e been playing a lot of Fate/Grand order. Now i am a completely F2P player and have manage to complete EVERY activity this game has sent my way so far. HOWEVER, i will admit that the gacha rates are abysmal AND i have gotten VERY lucky with my rolls. Like I honestly may be biased because of how lucky iv'e gotten, i can imagine someone who has been unlucky dropping the game.

The story is really good for a mobile game and has a lot of effort put into it.

I've certainly gotten my mileage out of it. Both it and Fate/Grand Order have a good amount of staying power, but in both cases it naturally helps if you're already familiar with/fond of the source material. It's also worth noting that these (and many other games) tend to have a stamina system, so if you're looking for something to occupy your time while you're out of commission you'll need alternatives while the game is effectively on cooldown.

Dunno about FE but in fate you get tons of free AP refresh items and you get your AP back when you level up which happens every other quest early on so it'll actually take a while, a lot longer than a week, to get to the point of the game where you've done everything and are just farming 3 40-ap quests for half an hour 3 times a day unless there's some type of event or a new main story just came out.

All true. In fact, I think I'm sitting on about 300 golden apples because I'm so stingy with them.
