I'm looking for a certain book...

I don't remember what it was called or who wrote it! Great start.
The story, from what I recall, was that somehow a group of robbers managed to pull off a scheme... on the internet. I believe that was the idea anyway, what seemed like a robbery being pulled off in a game was actually a real robbery. The cover was white and had lots of colourful lego-like avatars on it.

It's pretty obscure because I've only seen it once, but I'm trying my darndest to find it again.
Does it ring any bells for anyone?

Hmm, I clicked on this thread thinking I would have no idea what book you were talking about, but strangely enough, the description of the cover rings a bell. By any chance, was one of the little avatars lying down as if they had been shot, or something? And the book has something to do with the theft of a virtual item, but then someone actually turns up dead in the real world. Unfortunately, I can't remember the name of that book either.

Sounds vaguely familiar. Was this a children's book or an adult-oriented title? If it was the former I can think of several suggestions.

i can't help but think i've encountered that book somewhere amongst the hundreds or possibly thousands of books i have read......... wish i could provide some help but i have quite the terrible memory when it comes to some things.
