Hey, I recently aquired Oblivion for my PC and there are a couple of Questions I have.

1) What exactly am I supposed to do? Right off at the begining of the game, I chose A Mage like class, and ran around with a Bow and Arrow, and destruction spells. Problem being, is that after a while I ammassed 120K something , and discovered how to BUY stuff.

So I went to the city, for once, and wandered into the magic university or something, and spotted a cool looking electro spell that cost about 40k. I bought it, and now I'm shocked to realise that... there is absoloutly no challenge, I'm level 2, and I can 1 hit everything I can see. It's pointless now, I've tried turning up the difficulty to max, but to no availe...

Now, I'm going to have to restart, and not buy that spell, or spend like a mad man to not accidentally amass to much.

2) Mods Mods Mods! What are some good mods for the game? Whether it be enemies, or weapons I do not care just point me at some good ones. =]

3) I'm having frame rate issues, when I shouldn't be having any. I have a GeForce 8800, 2gb of ram, and a processer rated at 5.2845 GHz my OS being Windows XP SP 3. Any help would be apreciated =]

Thanks!

1. and 2. can be answered in one.
There are mods for upping the difficulty and making the game more difficult.
Good mods can be found Here. Usually best to search by user rating for the good ones.

As for 3. I'd update your drivers first, and see how that works.
Thanks man!

And i'm fairly sure it can't be my Drivers that are causing it... AS I've not had a problem with any other games, including newer ones...

I'll check any ways.

Also, watch out for mudcrabs, since, as i've been told, others have fought some which are tougher than you.

Go to sleep. (in-game of course)
Seriously.

If you've gained access to the Arcane University, it means you've done quests for at least six or so Mage's Guilds.
You HAVE to be ready to level up.

I'd be surprised if someone didn't get framerate issues with that game. Hmm, your graphic settings might be on max and while it isn't the ideal solution, turn down or turn off some of the graphics options you could do without.

Ok I may be somewhat of a noob because I only played through some of the game's quests and the highest level I reached was 22, but HOW THE FUCK DOES EVERYONE BECOME SO STRONG AND SO RICH???? Even at level 22 the most gold I got was about 3-5k and I had to constantly blast every single fucking enemies with like over a hundred fireballs to kill them, every single enemy knocked me back when I tried dueling them with a sword, and the quest that made me quit was when you have to clear that cave of the vampires for the Count in Skingrad. EVERY SINGLE FUCKIGN ENEMY KICKED MY ASS IF I DIDN'T RUN AWAY AND BLAST THEM WITH FIREBALL SPELLS FROM AFAR. My friend had a Lv 11 profile that could kill any Imperial Guard, yet my lv 22 guy still got his ass kicked by guards and couldn't even handle one, and a group of guards killed me in an instant.

Oh and once I finally got some powerful spells that did like 50-70 points, I had such little a tiny magika pool that I could only cast a powerful spell like 2 times. As a matter of fact there were spells that even at Lv 22 cost too much magika and my pool still wasn't big enough to cast them even once.

Seriously, can somebody evaluate how I played?

In case you are wondering, NO I DID NOT LEVEL HOLD. And if you're going to point that out as my mistake, listen to this first: Shouldn't I be free to level up every time I can and not be outclassed by enemies? Seriously if I level held I would have such a tiny magika pool that it is impossible to cast any decent destruction spells that deal more than 20 pts of damage.

I'm gonna say you need to look into class management.

But even without that, I was grand.....though I DID take more of a stealth approach.
Oh and with regard to the money, SELL SHIT! Lots of it.
Then kill more people.
AND SELL THEIR SHIT!
Repeat.

Well, there's your problem. The game effectively punishes you for not level holding because of how the system works. If you constantly level at every opportunity, then you're missing precious points every single time. It only stacks onto what you're missing as you go.

Actually, that's your exact flaw, Santo. Nothing will make Oblivion a breeze like leveling skills while holding back on levels. You'll get more out of your current weapons and armor and be able to cast spells for cheaper while also gaining access to stronger versions, all while your enemies are weak-ass bandits and stock wolves. To say nothing of making super potions and repairing your equipment to stronger than it should be.

Also, people get massive cash by looting bodies every chance they get. If you have a lot of bodies, loot what you can and come back for the rest. Use sterngth-boosting and feather magic and potions if you need to.

Yeah, pretty fucking dumb, I know. You need to sleep in a bed every time you get enough experience to actually progress a level.

Okay, resist the urge to kill everyone.
That was my first mistake in Oblivion.
And it was my last.
It worked in FO3...

Wait why, I've been knocking guards off like no bodys business, and everyone I've met... and if I get into a problem, I just use this nifty invisibility speel (But strangely, when I go into a new a rea a guard walks up to me and says "PAY THE FINE, GO TO JAIL OR DIE" even though I'm invisible...My response everytime is "hmm... select spell 2.. shocky shocky!"

also, as to mods, I'm having problems finding some mods.all I have is this sexy Midas Magic mod

EDIT: just to add the most common question, you drop things by shift"left ckicking them

1) Difficulty doesn't matter in Oblivion since it only modifies melee damage. Any change in difficulty comes from your weapons doing X% more or less damage, while NPCs receive the opposite.(very easy means you do 50% more damage while enemies do 50% less, very hard has the opposite) Magic.. they forgot about that so a 50 damage fireball will always stay a 50 damage fireball.

If you want to play a mage, find the "Less Annoying Magic Experience" mod(just google "Oblivion LAME")

As for suggestions, join the mages guild and do the Finger of the Mountain quest before you reach level 4. That way you get a cheap spell to knock items from places.
Then join the assassins guild by following the main quest up to the Kvatch Oblivion gate, there at the top of one of the towers there is a caged human with a guard(only way to advance without a key), kill that guard before he has a chance to talk to you(counts as murder because he's not hostile).
After escorting the priest to the fort(whole point of the Kvatch quest), the whole gameworld is open.

At this point, download the Keyring mod since it's possibly the most important one.(removing the million keys from your inventory while keeping them usable)

2) Other mods, well, play for about 10 hours and you'll know roughly what annoys you in the game. Download the construction set, learn to use it and modify anything that can't be found on TESnexus. I say this because I played with about 120 mods and 30 of them were to fix settings in other mods because I didn't like everything they changed.

3) Framerate issues are normal because of the shitty port. Disable grass(turn the slider for grass all the way down) then download Streamline, disable the framerate smoothing, enable the regular RAM cleaning(the game rarely does this by itself) and hope the game hasn't already wrecked your graphics card. There is a mod that reduces the graphical complexity of basically every object while keeping the quality the same.

Sorry for MY double post, but I doubt you killed him. :)

He's much too powerful for a level 2 character to kill. I assume you mean the guy who handles your quests. I forgot his name, but it's something like Remus or Romulous or something to that effect.
He goes upstairs sometimes, so you can just wait for him to come back. :)
