I'm planning on buying a ps2...

And was looking for game suggestions. I know that the ps2 has a huge library, but I want to start with the classics. I already have a few lined up, but would like some more input, as I know you are all eager to share.

- Silent Hill 2
- Metal Gear Solid 3
- Prince of Persia: Sands of Time
- TimeSplitters series
- Ico
- Shadow of the Colossus

I've missed a ton, obviously, but our house grew up on a Gamecube, so I never really got a chance to play ps2. I'm open to any genre, but I'd really like some good horror game suggestions, if you have any.

Just a few of the awesome games I can think of at the moment.

- Armored Core Silent Line
- Dark Cloud
- Dark Cloud 2
- Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time

Armored Core is a game where you play as like 10-metre-tall robots that are fully customizable. Get AC3 first, because it's a great way to get the hang of it, plus you can carry-over your stuff from it into Silent Line. And in Silent Line you can train AI and make your very own AI arena out of them. I trained one AI so well he can even beat me sometimes!

The two Dark Cloud games are simply amazing. They're about as connected as the Final Fantasy games, in which the stories don't connect but there's a lot of parallels such as recurring characters. They're action-RPG's that are simple to play but have a lot of content. You can play DC2 for hundreds of hours and still have more basic stuff to do. My cousin's clocked around 300 hours into the game in total.

And Prince of Persia... well, just watch Yahtzee's reviews. He talks enough about them. I really liked the first one. Great characters, fun (if a little dated) gameplay, and stimulating and fun puzzles.

Grab Silent Hill 3 as well. Two has creepier atmosphere and a better story, Three is way scarier and a much more hostile atmosphere (Creepy atmosphere: Walking past jail cell block as thing smashes the bars from the other side and whispers at you. Hostile atmosphere: Blood flowing up the walls as you go further.).
