Alright, i was trying to clean out some candle wax out of the carpet in my room. Apparently according to the interwebz a clothing iron and a towel can do the trick. Me being a retarded 18 yo guy left the iron on the carpet while I went to grab a towel and come back to a severely melted carpet. Now I managed to save the iron but now how the hell am I suppose to fix the carpet? How difficult is it doing it yourself?

Laying carpet is child's play. It can be expensive, depending on how big the room is. Make no mistake, you will have to redo the whole carpet. I recommend going to a thrift store and finding a cheep roll. Once you get what you need, just google "laying carpet."

Go buy a rug, throw it over the bad spot. Problem solved.

And if someone happens to see it, it was the xenomorph attack. You're lucky you survived with all your limbs.

Not to knock your skills but... if you forgot the iron on the carpet I have serious reservations about your ability to completely re-carpet a room. If it's a small portion... maybe you should just move some furniture over it for the time being.

Is it in the middle of the room? If not, put an entertainment center/shelf/dresser/whatever there.

Physics! A leading source of !!Fun!!

In related news, although I didn't really expect it to work and it was more of a Hail Mary than anything, I can confirm that attempting to weld tiny cracks in a CD or DVD back together with a heated metal object will only succeed in turning a ruined CD into a spectacularly ruined CD.

Ya things that are suppose to be simple never quite work the way they're suppose to for me

I can't simply replace one section with a matching scrap?
That would be completely obvious. Carpet is tacked down at the wall and lain in a single section to avoid seams.

You can, but every time anyone looks at it, they'll know.

True carpet repair cost more then just replacing the carpet. Its in fact WHY carpet is still in use: its easier to mess up then tile or wood, but a fraction of the cost to replace.

Yes you can. Take a tiny sample to a carper/floor/renovation store and see if they might have a match.

Also, if you want to be really picky, your building company might have a record of where they bought the carpets from. Contact your landlord/Realtor/Property manager and they can tell you that information.

Good luck. And believe me, I feel your pain.

I realize how childish I sound right now but I have one of those neat freak mothers who spots a speck of dust a mile away and bitches and moans about how the house is always a mess. I'm afraid this would quite literally give her a heart attack.
