That has day or even weekend long battles featuring over 300+ players.

I've heard of a seemingly epic game called "Planetside", which featured something like what I would like to experience, but I've heard that it's dead. So that's out.

MAG had potential to do this, but they screwed it up with their simplistic objectives based games intended for 18-32 player battles, not to mention the fact that you almost never experience a battle of epic proportions in MAG, like you'd think you would experience.

So, who's with me in dreaming of the ultimate war game? Chances are that, yes, it already exists, but my mind is telling me to make a thread about it.

So let's discuss.

I'm waiting for a game that lets me create settlements from a FPS viewpoint as I help them prosper in a never ending battle against nature, but the only thing I know of that's close to that is buggy as hell and nothing else gives me enough freedom.

I'm waiting for a game that lets me be one soldier in an army with nothing special about me at all. No inherent destiny to save the world or finding out I'm the only one who can take out the leader of the other faction because of *insert laboured storyline here*, just an average person who is treated as such.

Can't ever see it happening though as it probably wouldn't sell *sigh*

That'd be awesome. They'd have to do it as an MMO, where there are only a couple of main servers, so that most people will hop on those, instead of trying to host their own. You'd have to actively encourage clans to join in, and they could be their own battalions or units in the grand scheme of the battle. The maps would have to be huge, like WoW, but designed so people will eventually run in to the enemy.

I'd play that game.

I fucking love huge ass matches. The more people just make it funner for some reason.

I think I am a mad man for wanting 100 players in a single TF2/CSS match.

I'd probably check that out if it was ever made.

That actually doesn't sound too bad, and coupled with what I'd like to see, that might be a great game.

Maybe you could join and leave a battle in progress? Anyway, this sounds like a cool game, especially if you could record footage of battles.

I'm forseeing "Save Private xXELiTeKni53sn1p3r69Xx", "He11enKi11er's Heroes" and "YouMomma@ss1991: First Blood Part 2"

Here's hoping they don't fuck it up.

From what you were saying you were after I think our desires intertwine slightly. To make your game happen it would require mass battles but for that to work on a gaming level everyone would pretty much have to have similar skillsets available or it just wouldn't work, giving me the level playing field and anonimity that I'm after.

I actually wanted to be one of the NPC soliders in Dragon Age as it would've meant that I could've carved out heroics on the battlefield without needing to save the world/decide which pary member to take/wear horrifically mis-matched armour etc.
