Hey y'all. This is my first topic, so go easy on me please.

Anyway, the point of this topic is for you guys to write a lovely piece of imagery, whether it be a metaphor, a simile - whatever from a novel. Post it and if you could, please write the name of the book and author :) i'll start us off.

David Gemmell

Waylander

'Flowers bloomed by the stream, bluebells seeming to float above the ground like a sapphire mist. There was tranquility here, thought Dardalion. Harmony.'

I don't know about you, but i loved that :D happy posting.

Distant earthrise long ago
Lingers at the borders of our minds
Mysteries spinning in the dark
In the frozen emptiness of time
We were lost and we never knew
Who we were or what we left behind
Living half-lives we were blind
To the new frontiers that opened up our eyes
To find our minds were spinning
Souls entwined in a spiral dance
The ancient ways have found us
Again to give us one last chance

Living in this place
Staring into space we find
We might share the corners of our lives
Infinity runs deep
Eternity that we can't keep
Melting through the frozen wastes of time

So we go and will not return
To navigate the seas of the sun
Our children will go on and on
To navigate the seas of the sun
So we go and will not return
To navigate the seas of the sun
Our children will go on and on
To navigate the seas of the sun

We can't go on tomorrow
Living death by gravity
Couldn't stand it anymore
We'll sail our ships to distant shores

Purple gold and blue
Living colors every hue
Flowers in the garden of the gods
No one can ever know
If you never saw them grow
This darkness is really full of light

[Solos]

Well beyond the earth,
Beyond all things that gave us birth
We'll Navigate the Seas of the Sun
If God is throwing dice,
And Einstein doesn't mind the chance
We'll Navigate the Seas of the Sun
Infinity runs deep, eternity that we can't keep
We'll Navigate the Seas of the Sun
Flowers of our souls, purple blue and gold we find
To Navigate the Seas of the Sun
So we know who we are, even in this frozen waste
We'll Navigate the Seas of the Sun
Living in this place, staring into space we find
We'll Navigate the Seas of the Sun
Well beyond the earth,
Beyond all things that gave us birth
We'll Navigate the Seas of the Sun
If Einstein's throwing dice,
and God doesn't mind the chance
We'll Navigate the Seas of the Sun
Flowers of our souls, purple blue and gold we find
We'll Navigate the Seas of the Sun
And who we were before -
Eternity that we can't keep
We'll Navigate the Seas of the Sun.

Bruce Dickinson- Navigate the Seas of the Sun. Most Beautiful song i've ever heard.

First, this is a very good idea for a topic - much more fresh than Halo/religion/console war threads. I seriously doubt there were any ones like this before.

Second, can i use my own image? I can't remember anything from any novels. If so...

Clear blue skies. Puffy clouds. Everywhere i look,an endless sea of wonderfully green grass. Birds fly,sun shines. And in the middle of it,an oak tree. I could just lie down in it's shade, relax, and look. Stare into eternity - forever. And ever and ever and ever.

- me,just now, specially for this thread. Because my memory is worse than my imagination.

When most look upon the moon surrounded by black, they tremble in fear for no light to be seen and quickly turn their back.

But once you embrace it the darkness and all, only then you will see the light that befalls on us all.

(i wrote this at a time were i constantly wore sunglasses. so at night i took it of and everything was bright.)

so i came up with this. :)

Song of Songs chapter 5 said:
10 'My beloved is white and ruddy,
pre-eminent above ten thousand.
11 His head is as the most fine gold,
his locks are curled, and black as a raven.
12 His eyes are like doves beside the water-brooks;
washed with milk, and fitly set.
13 His cheeks are as a bed of spices,
as banks of sweet herbs;
his lips are as lilies, dropping with flowing myrrh.
14 His hands are as rods of gold set with beryl;
his body is as polished ivory
overlaid with sapphires.
15 His legs are as pillars of marble,
set upon sockets of fine gold;
his aspect is like Lebanon, excellent as the cedars.
16 His mouth is most sweet;
yea, he is altogether lovely.
This is my beloved, and this is my friend,
O daughters of Jerusalem.'

see, I just pictured a dead guy lying under a tree with birds picking at him. My imagination is that disturbed.

Here's mine:
The smokey wind blows cold against the galleon, the sea a warm blanket about its waist.Fog on all sides, thicker than clouds over a dead mans eyes. Where it goes, no one know, forever on the sea of the lost.
well? well? whaddya think?
