Am I the only one that isn't a fan of their character models? I mean really.. Small proportioned heads and enlarged hands? Sounds like a very old cheat key-combination for a duke nukem game.
'We want to make the characters realistic but change them so they wont look like something you will find in daily life'? Isn't this a contradiction or am I just narrow minded? I guess realistic can be stretched to something that is plausible to encounter but Small heads + large hands.. That doesn't work for me.

This game looks good but I hope Bethesda doesn't fuck it up like they did with elder scrolls. I still cant believe that they can release a game that is so full of glitches that its almost unplayable and it still gets game of the year. Since this isn't a sandbox game maybe that wont be the case this time.

I thought people loved TES series, what went wrong?

I can say I have no interest in this.
Same here, it's from a developer with a meh track record. That Dark Messiah of Might and Magic RPG. They did a few things with Bioshock 2.

And it's published by Bethesda, practically guaranteeing it'll be riddled with bugs. I just can't get excited for this game. It'll be a letdown, I've been calling that for awhile.

Beth are just the publisher and Arkane are using the Unreal engine, glitch and bug concerns are possibly unfounded. Actually that makes what they've done with the character models make sense, the Unreal engine can't do realism without skin disease.

I think this game is creating too much hype for it's own good.

I am actually curious what would benefit sales more: A good game that doesn't get hyped, flies slightly below the radar up to it's launch, but exceeds all expectations and gets boosted by favourable reviews (with the internet being what it is, people are going to hear about it pretty fast)

or a good game that gets over-hyped, falls short of expectations (naturally), but at least bags a lot of day one sales.
The second, every time. It might leave some disappointed, but the truth is with games costing as much as they do people are much more likely to buy, say, a sequel to a game they already like, than a new IP that has an interesting concept, but is seen as a more risky purchase. The only chance the devs have to make the consumer choose the new IP is to make it impossible to ignore.
Well the minimal advertisement approach works sometimes for example Minecraft and Demons Souls/Dark souls however there is the danger it will go totally under the radar like Enslaved or... something else I never heard of because it was under advertised. I would agree though, cheap bulk sales on launch is both the preferred and most immediately effective strategy.

I really want this game to be good. Asides from Fireaxis's X-Com, and Bioshock Infinite, I can't think of game that's on my radar, asides from this one.

I think this game will hinge completely on its playability and its ability to keep the player interested in pursuing the story and identifying with the characters in game. The artistry is individual and will appeal to many just as art always has, yet I expect people to feel the same way they did towards Wind Waker. Going in there own direction is good for the future of games and concepts, yet I personally will be more critical of quality of the game in its overall attributes than just the scenery. The challenge is what players want to be brought back, that level and feeling of accomplishment when you beet a game that only 1in4 of your friends didn't quit before the ending credits. We can all admit of at least a few games that look like a child's finger painting, yet we played it until our fingers bled and our pours seeped caffeine.

They are stylized to look like that. You should have watched the whole vid. Soldiers and fighters have larger hands and smaller heads to make it visially striking that they are indeed brutes.

Noblemen are the opposite, larger heads, smaller hands.

Overall, I LOVE the art and visual style seen in the trailers and vids.

I wouldn't say that. It's true that 90% of unreal engine 3 skins look terrible (and the same goes for the rest of the games, I just can't stand that engine)

But then you find out Mirror's Edge is unreal engine 3 as well...

I feel like I have watched the equivalent of a dvd commentary. Would have been nice to pick up on the themes as I was going along, then have watched this is some ways. Not that it ruined anything for me, just a preference.

I am looking forward to this game, at this moment in time I struggle to see how it could be a bad experience.
I don't know... they could release day 1 DLC... Then it will make it the worst game of the year, no matter how it plays... [/sarcasm]

OT: Nice... I like well made hype like this! I subscribe to gaming magazines, and back in the PS1/PS2 days devs would send marketing stuff to me... occasionally I would get a crappy questionaire to fill in, but sometimes I would get something a lot more exciting...!

They would be themed boxed, themed to the game, with postcard style screenshots, information about the game and they would always have a demo disk! I loved them! One was for 40 winks on the PS1 and it had some fun cutouts of the characters... I remember a box for some sort of spy game (I thnk it was James Bond or something) that had a secret compartment in the box, where the demo was hidden... the rest of the package, which was all personalised with my name, was like a briefing pack, including some fake currencies for my travels!

I love stuff like that! Really makes me want the game, becuse I feel more involved...
The only thing I have had for the 360 though was a cool subscribers gift from OXM... it was an alternative cover sleeve for Forza 4, where the numberplate on the car had been changed to my name... but with substituted letters (A=4 etc) It was pretty cool, but I didn't get the game in the end... so it is on my Forza 3 case! :p

It's true, it's true that day 1 DLC *shakes fist angrily*

I never knew they did things like that for marketing some games, I think I would have little nerdgasm if I got stuff like that.

I can see it now- Preorder Hitman absolution, get a fibre wire and bald head cap.

Damn the next few games I see I will be making up some daft/awesome preorder bonuses now...
