Immersion in Games

What is the best example of an immersive game that you can think of? There are a few that I could list, but I just finished playing Penumbra: Overture, and I scared the hell out of myself so I'd say it was pretty immersive.

Amnesia

No other game has made me frantically pile up boxes and hide behind them as I feared for my life while a monster slowly came through the only door to the room.

Sadly my computer cannot run Amnesia (because it sucks) I get like 12 fps in small rooms, but I digress, even the videos of that game scare me to death so I'd agree.

I'm going to point to Metroid Prime as the most immersive game I've played. Granted, many others are immersive, like Bioshock and Skyrim and Mass Effect and Fallout 3/NV, but ultimately the first Metroid Prime hits the proverbial nail on the head for me as far as... well, anything goes. I can barely think of any problems with this game, period.

I'd also have to agree with that, I can remember being enthralled by that game, good choice.
