Ever play a game so immersive it bleeds into real life for you.
If so what are YOUR examples.

Me:
Immersion is when I'm walking in a narrow hallway and think "this would be a great place tp spawn as a charger"

Note: Got the idea from Zero punctuation: Oblivion

Immersion is when you and the game are the only things that exist and any one time. Immersion can only really be achieved perfectly if alone. I get it a lot in Bad Company 2 multiplayer, and also Fallout 3 if I get the spare time to play.

When you catch yourself planning multiple escape routes from any building you happen to be in just in case the zombie apocalypse happens right then. Actually, that's not immersion that's just paranoia. never mind.

Immersion is when you are fiqhtinq trolls underwater in Oblivion, and qet blindsided by one, and JUST BECAUSE OF THAT you develop a fear of deep water.

Immersion is when you qet teabaqqed and declare a blood feud to resolve the evils done to your corpse, and a week later, when you see that same player, you spawnkill him and teabaq his corpse. RIQHTEOUS REVENQE!

That is what happened to me. ALL TRUE!

also when you are playinq a qame and suddenly look up and it isnt three or four hours later no it is eight hours later and the sun has set and you did not even notice and you ask yourself where is everyone but you are too hunqry to care and you wonder why i am i hunqry i remember eatinq oh wait that was just my character who ate

One of the first games to come along that had the graphics and ambience to draw me in fully was Metal Gear Solid. I was around 12 years old when it was released, and I got so into it that I would think about ways I could sneak around MGS style where ever I went. "Oh, I could so hide behind those trash cans to get the jump on someone..."

When you see pipes, crates and houses and want to climb up on them at the fastest possible way after you played Mirrors Edge.

I thought I'd share this article [http://designersnotebook.com/Columns/063_Postmodernism/063_postmodernism.htm] on immersion by Ernest Adams. Just focus on the three forms of immersion and disregard the ranting about MGS. It makes some interesting points.

Immersion is that after a day of gaming, you go to sleep and continue the same game in your dreams. (only to wake up and find out that dreams dont have a savegame)

i've had this for quite a few games,

Including

TeamFortress2
Battlefield BC2
Portal
Half-Life2
Borderlands
Bioshock
Batman: Arkham Asylum
MassEffect2
Mafia2

and more...

Decent immersion enables you to play (if undisturbed) for over 12 hours straight.

Also certain games will let you see things in real life like you are still ingame like:
Mirror's Edge runner routes when walking though town
L4D spawnpoints if you see a dark alley
Tetris when packing bags (the Tetris Effect)
SplinteCell´s Climbing routes

Immersion is what makes games so awesome

Immersion is when you play Resident Evil 1 for 3 or 4 hours then (at night) walk through your house feeling trepidation when you reach your hand into a dark room to turn on the light.

Immersion is when you walk by a harbor and see a bunch of stacked crates but imagine companion cubes and start figuring where to place them.
