There is something i been thinking about for a while now. Lets say that you get offerd immortality. By who is not important, you just get the offer. You will live forever and you can't be killed by any weapon. The only problem is that only you become immortal. None of your friends or loved ones. Only you.
Would you become immortal if it where offerd to you?

I personally would never do it. If it meant i had to outlive my friends and loved ones i would never do it. How it must suck to become immortal only to spend eternety alone.
Sorry, man But not being able to be killed by weapons is invulnerablity. Immortality is immunity to age and disease, but you can still be killed by weapons. Think the elves from Lord of the Rings.

However, playing by your rules, I would not take the offer. Seeing as I would live until everything I know is dust, I'm almost certain that would drive me insane.
I allready know that. The only reason i put the can't be killed by any weapons thing in there was so everyone didn't type "I would live thil i was bored and then kill myself". And it seems to me that no one got that part.

Would I be able to destroy myself?

Like throw myself into the sun or something?

If not, no I would stay human.

Hell yes! Not a second thought! I live for science, discovery, an eternity to find out what its all about would be perfect!

And about the ageing thing, ageing and dieing (at least of old age) are the same process, so immunity to one is immunity to the other.

It's a fun "what if" type thing, but true immortality wouldn't be possible.

It's a good idea to throw around though. But I would personally never do it.

I've contemplated this many times before and I've always come to the same answer,

No.

Living forever would drive me insane to the point where I would try and find ways to end it the immortality, it's more of a curse than anything.

I wouldn't care about out living friends and loved ones since I have very few. But OMFG why the hell would anyone want to live forever that would have to be torture.

I wouldn't mind going to space and floating around for about 300 million years. It'd give me time to think, and master painting and piano. Sit around, watch the universe end. then wait until the next big bang. Go to earth, Make millions off my amazing skills and predict the future. Then do it all over again.

If I didn't age past my prime, then yeah I'd do it. The possibilities really expand when you have all the time in the world. I could learn so many things, master so many skills, travel to so many places. I probably wouldn't get to close to other people, so the whole "watch you love ones die around you" issue wouldn't be that big of a deal.

Plus if I get into a situation where I just want to end it, taking my life is always an option...
