Import worthy games?

No real story here folks, I just scored a free PS3 and am looking for some games that don't come to the Americas without the aid of a magical, Japanese talkin' flying fairy (honestly, that's how he likes to describe himself). I'll admit I'm already putting in my order for Monster Hunter 3rd HD and am taking a look at the Macross titles available (and cursing the apparent lack of Shoot 'Em Ups), but beyond that I am a little unaware of the selection as I hadn't planned on owning said console up til now.

So my fellow Escapists, would you have any suggestions of series or games that are certainly worth the extra cost of bringing over? And to make it a little more involved, let's not keep it to the PS3 either since I do plan on a forthcoming acquisition of a Japanese 360 (which seems to be the Shoot 'em up genre's current console of choice.)

Well I was gonna recommend Monster Hunter 3rd HD until you literally mentioned it. I would definatley buy the game but I don't know Japanese. I can't think of any other game that I'd recomend from Japan. I do suggest some of the Suda 51 games such as Shadows of the Damned, No More Heroes, and the upcoming Lollipop Chainsaw which all take inspiration from Japan but are coming to America.

Actually, how about Red Seeds Profile (Deadly Premonition) that's a really interesting game.

I was tempted to import the Japanese release of Metal Gear Solid HD collection, simply because I don't want to have to wait until February and want a copy of MGS1 on my PS3. Aside from that I don't really follow many games which are released over there but not here.
