How about JFK getting murdered, or Napoleon losing the battle at Waterloo?

Or maybe a more modern historical event like the financial crisis?

Your death at the hands of me minutes after you blow up the whitehouse using toothpaste and a toilet.

Maybe a World War? I can't write poems though so that's down to you. A ton of areas you could explore though. Maybe how a mother would feel as she watches her child march off with the army to potential death.

You seriously can't think of one important historical event?

Are you in a "special" school or what?
I hate poetry...I can't think of one easy to write about that is easy enough that I can ace it

Just find something that someone has already written a poem about (Like the Lincoln assassination [My Captain!])
So you know that it's possible.

How about Dresden? Planes raining fire down upon a civilian city? People catching on fire and jumping into fountains only to be boiled alive? A raging inferno lasting for days after the attack?

That's poetry stuff, right there!

Poetry's not my forte but maybe world war 1? Often regarded as the most tragic war in recent history, it had a big hand in shaping the world as it is today.

Try Napoleon's retreat from Russia or the battle of Borodino. It should be semi-easy to write about those.

The moon landings, civil rights, the first useage of the atomic bomb. There have been hundreds of significant historical events

Why is it always bad things?

You can have an electoral president who saved a country for a while. The end of the WW2, etc, etc.

Oh yeah, I like that one. A very "uncomortable" subject. Use the term "Holocaust by bombs" and you're likely to have a fiery discussion for the rest of the lesson (if you're supposed to read it out loud).
That's a good idea I'm gonna go with that thanks :D

Hey, that's cool, man. Good luck with it. Tell us how it goes.
